Thanks for sharing your experience with the climate control issue! This sounds very similar to what I'm experiencing with my car. It's actually reassuring to hear it wasn't anything too major in your case. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you paid for the repair? Also, has everything been working fine since then, or have you noticed any other issues pop up? I'm trying to get an idea of what to expect when I take mine in.

Hey there! Happy to follow up about my BMW repair. I actually just got it fixed last week, took it to the mechanic and you'll be glad to hear it was exactly what I suspected. Just like my initial diagnosis, it was indeed the defrost flap acting up because of a dodgy cable connection. The total bill came to 95 € which covered fixing the cable and connection. Pretty reasonable, I'd say! And honestly, it's been working like a charm since then. The fog issues are completely gone, heating's perfect, and that annoying error message has disappeared. I know car troubles can be stressful, but this turned out to be a pretty straightforward fix. The mechanic did a great job explaining everything, and I'm confident the problem's sorted for good. No other issues have popped up since the repair, the climate control's been working exactly as it should. If your symptoms are similar to what I had, you're probably looking at the same kind of repair. It's certainly worth getting it checked out sooner rather than later, these things can get worse if left too long. Hope this helps give you a better idea of what you're dealing with!

Thanks so much for the detailed follow-up! That price is actually way better than I was expecting, I was worried it might cost several hundred. Your experience has given me more confidence about getting this fixed. I've actually just booked my car in for next Tuesday at a garage that specializes in BMWs. You know what's funny? Right after I posted this, the fog on my windows got even worse during my morning drive. The heater started making this weird humming noise too. I guess it's definitely the same issue you had with the flap and cable connection. Really glad I asked here before taking it to the shop, at least now I know what to expect and won't get taken for a ride on the price.

I had nearly identical issues with my BMW 2 Series 220d (2015). The symptoms were exactly what you're describing, foggy windows and heating problems. Initially thought it was something major, but turned out to be the cable connection to the climate control flap actuator that was loose and partially damaged. My diagnosis at the garage revealed that the flap actuator wasn't responding properly due to a faulty connection. The mechanic showed me how the wire harness had some wear and wasn't making proper contact. It wasn't a serious repair job, just needed to replace the connection cable and reseat the actuator properly. The job took about 2 hours in total. Once fixed, the climate control started working perfectly again, and the error code cleared up. If it helps, I had similar error codes stored in the system before the repair. I'd suggest getting it checked soon though, running with malfunctioning climate control can potentially lead to bigger issues with your HVAC system if left unchecked.
