Thanks for sharing your experience! That's exactly what happened to mine too. I'm planning to take it in next week. Would you mind telling me roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, curious if you've had any similar issues pop up since getting it fixed? Looking back, it seems like these sensor problems aren't too uncommon with BMWs, but better safe than sorry when it comes to safety features.

Hey again! Just wanted to update you on the costs since you asked, I ended up paying 315 € for the whole repair, which included replacing the faulty acceleration sensor and doing all the necessary recalibration. Honestly, considering it's a safety feature, I think it was worth every penny. The best part? I haven't had a single problem with it since getting it fixed. The Active Hood warning disappeared completely after the repair, and everything's been working perfectly. It's been such a relief not seeing that warning light anymore! You're absolutely right about these sensors being a common issue in BMWs. But like you said, when it comes to safety features, it's definitely not something you want to leave unchecked. The peace of mind alone is worth it. Good call on getting it checked out next week. Once it's fixed, you'll probably forget it was ever an issue. Let us know how it goes!

Thanks everyone for your help! Just wanted to close the loop on this, I took my BMW to the mechanic yesterday. The whole experience was actually way better than I expected. They found it was indeed the acceleration sensor, just like you mentioned. The repair took about two hours and cost me 295 €, which wasn't as bad as I feared. They also noticed my brake fluid was getting a bit low and topped it up for free, which was a nice surprise. The mechanic took time to explain everything they did, and even showed me the old sensor. It was pretty corroded, so I'm glad I got it sorted. The warning lights are now gone, and the car's running perfectly. No more stressing about that Active Hood message popping up on my dashboard! Really appreciate everyone's advice, it helped me go in there knowing what to expect. Now I can finally enjoy driving without worrying about those warning lights. Think I've found my new regular mechanic too!

Hey there! Had a similar issue with my 2019 BMW 2 Series last winter. The Active Hood and airbag warnings popped up together, and it turned out to be a faulty acceleration sensor. These sensors tell the car when to deploy the active hood system in case of a collision with a pedestrian. Got it checked at the garage and turns out the sensor's wiring harness had some corrosion. They had to replace the sensor unit and recalibrate the system. The repair wasn't super complex, but it's definitely not something you want to ignore since it's a safety feature. From my experience, you'll want to get it diagnosed properly with the right diagnostic tools. It's worth getting it fixed at a place that specializes in BMWs because they'll have the proper equipment to reset the system after repair. Best to get it sorted soon. While you can still drive the car, the active pedestrian protection won't work properly until it's fixed. Hope this helps!
