Hey again! Happy to give you an update. Since seeing the mechanic, everything's been spot-on with my climate control. That solar sensor fault is completely sorted now, such a relief! The repair was surprisingly straightforward and only set me back 95 € to fix the dodgy cable connection. Actually, it's been running like a dream since then. No more temperature fluctuations, no weird error codes, nothing. The auto AC is back to doing its thing perfectly. It's kind of funny how something as small as a faulty connection can cause such a headache, right? Must say, I'm pretty chuffed with how it turned out. For what it's worth, if you're experiencing similar symptoms, it might be worth checking those connections first before assuming it's something more serious. These newer BMWs are brilliant machines, but sometimes it's just these little electrical niggles that need sorting. Let me know how you get on with yours!
Thanks so much for all the info! After hearing about your experience, I bit the bullet and took my car to a specialized BMW workshop yesterday. You were spot on, it was actually a similar issue with corroded connections and a wonky sensor wire. The mechanic was great, really knew his stuff. Charged me a bit more than yours though, around 150 € including diagnostics, but honestly, it was worth every penny. They had it fixed within a couple of hours, and the climate control is working perfectly now. The cool air is properly cool again, and the heat is back to full strength. What a relief it wasn't something more serious! Definitely learned my lesson about getting these things checked out sooner rather than later. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, helped me avoid a lot of unnecessary worry and probably saved me from taking it to that sketchy mechanic I used before. Now I can finally enjoy those heated seats again without the AC going crazy on me!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2019 BMW 7 Series diesel last spring. Initially thought it was something major, but turned out the solar sensor connector was loose and had some corrosion build-up. Also, there was a faulty wiring harness connected to the climate control module. Had it fixed at the garage, they cleaned the connector pins, replaced the wiring harness, and recalibrated the climate control system. The whole job took about 3 hours. Wasn't a serious repair, just fiddly work to access the components behind the dashboard. For your 8 Series, since it's a 2022, I'd strongly suggest getting it checked at an authorized dealer or a specialized BMW workshop. These new models have complex climate systems integrated with the central electronics, and you'll want someone with the right diagnostic tools. Make sure they check both the sensor connections and the wiring, often it's not the sensor itself but the connections that cause these symptoms. Hope this helps!
