BMW 7 Series 2010: Vibrations from the engine compartment and experiences with the mechanic

Vibrations from the engine

Hello friends, I'm a bit worried about my 2010 BMW 7 series, gasoline engine, with around 215034 km on the clock. I have recently started to feel vibrations from the engine compartment, possibly coming from the engine mounts (vacuum controlled)? I didn't have a good experience at my garage last time. Have you experienced this before? What was your experience with your mechanic? Thanks in advance!

Hello, I experienced something similar last time with my 2013 BMW 5 Series. I also had extensive vibrations from the engine compartment and actually thought it was something to do with the engine mount. Took it to the garage and found out after a while that the engine mount was actually the cause. It was a serious matter and had to be fixed in good time. I would advise you to get it checked as soon as possible before it gets any more serious. Hope that helps!

Hi, thanks for your quick reply! Could you maybe remember how much you paid to get the problem fixed? Have there been any other problems since then or is everything ok? Thank you in advance!

Hello, sure, I can still remember it well. My garage repaired the defect in the engine mount (vacuum-controlled). It worked well and since then the problem with the vibrations has been solved. However, it did cost me something. I had to fork out a total of €1000 to repair the control unit. But hey, since then the car has been running like clockwork and hasn't let me down. Hope this helps you!

Hello, that is something to consider! Many thanks for the valuable information. I think I will take my car to the garage tomorrow. 1000 € is a big amount, but I agree with you that the reliability of our car is paramount. Better to intervene sooner than regret later is my motto! Your experience has really helped me. Thanks again and best wishes!

Repair carried out Workshop service. Exhaust gas turbocharger EVTC0074, intake air cooler, soot filter JMJ1129, Oil cooler, stabilizers, EGR valve 70671090, pipe connector, oil filter, Motorola 5w30 Long live, radiator antifreeze G12+, On Monday 16.09.24 I picked up the vehicle from the workshop and after 8km the car suddenly started to vibrate and all I could hear was a creaking noise from the engine compartment. Immediately afterwards the car stopped and the engine has not started since. The car was then towed to the garage with a towing service.

mNow the garage says the engine is stuck, unfortunately there is nothing more we can do. They leave me stranded with engine damage

I would have to pay €3200 for the work when I collect the vehicle

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. It's possible that the engine failure is related to the recent work done on your car. I would recommend getting a second opinion from another mechanic before paying for any additional repairs. If the engine failure is indeed related to the recent work, you may be able to negotiate with the original garage for a reduced repair cost or even a free repair. Please keep us updated on your progress. Do you have any other questions or concerns?

Jaguar9036

The garage refuses, says I'm sorry we did everything and doesn't know how it came about and leaves me with the engine damage
