BMW 7 Hybrid Washer Nozzle Temperature Issues & Fixes

Hey everyone! Having trouble with my 2018 BMW 7 Hybrid. The windshield washer system seems to have issues, nozzles are either freezing up in cold weather or getting too hot. Getting error codes as well. Pretty sure it's related to the washer heater, but I'd like to confirm. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? What did your mechanic find and how was it fixed? Any insight would be really helpful. Thanks in advance.

Hey there! I have some experience working on cars and dealt with something really similar on my 2016 BMW 5 Series Hybrid (also owned a 3 Series before). Had the exact same symptoms, washer nozzles acting up with temperature changes and error codes popping up. Turns out it was a faulty connection in the washer heater wiring. My mechanic found a loose cable connection that was causing intermittent failures. The fix was pretty straightforward, they replaced the connection assembly and checked all the related wiring. Cost me about 95 Euro but solved the problem completely. Can you share which specific error codes you're getting? Also, does it happen more frequently when you first start the car or after it's been running for a while? This info would help confirm if you're dealing with the same issue I had.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Mine's showing the same symptoms at 170,810 KM. Getting error code 6F24 mostly when starting up in the morning. The loose connection theory makes sense because the issues started getting more frequent after my latest service last month. Did you notice any warning lights on the dash before the nozzles started acting up? Not sure if I should take it to the dealer or find a good independent shop that knows these systems well.

Hey again! Yeah, my car had exactly the same error code 6F24 when I was dealing with this issue. Funny enough, my problems also started right after a service – sounds really similar to your situation. I did notice the washer fluid warning light flickering occasionally before the nozzles went crazy, but didn't think much of it at first. Big mistake! Should've had it checked right away. My issues started around 165,000 KM, so our cars are in the same ballpark mileage-wise. About the dealer vs. independent shop question – I actually went with an independent BMW specialist. The dealer quoted me almost triple what I ended up paying at the specialist shop. Just make sure whoever you choose has experience with hybrid systems. My guy showed me the loose connection when he was fixing it – it was such a small thing causing such annoying problems! Since you mentioned it's been worse after your service, might be worth checking if they disturbed any connections while doing other work. That's exactly what happened in my case – turned out they accidentally knocked something loose while changing the air filter. Want me to send you the details of what exactly was replaced? Still have the invoice somewhere if that helps.

Thanks so much for all this detailed info! This is super helpful. Yes, I'd really appreciate it if you could share those invoice details, would be great to know exactly what parts I might need. It's crazy how such a small issue can cause such a headache! The flickering washer fluid light actually started showing up for me too about a week ago, so that confirms my suspicions even more. Think I'll follow your advice and look for a good independent BMW specialist, no point paying dealer prices if it's just a connection issue. I'm pretty sure they must have knocked something loose during the service when they were poking around under the hood. Thanks again for taking the time to help out. Will definitely get this sorted before it gets any worse. Really appreciate your help with this!
