Hey everyone! Having some serious suspension troubles with my 2005 BMW 7 Diesel (80.5k km). Car's sitting low on one side, rides really rough, and the suspension won't lift anymore. Getting error messages on the dash too. Gearbox isn't shifting smoothly either. Had a not-so-great experience with my last mechanic, so I'm a bit hesitant about where to take it. Thinking it might be the air suspension bellows valve. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? Would love to hear about repair costs and trustworthy mechanics who've fixed this issue. Hey there! I had almost identical issues with my 2008 BMW 530d last year. The symptoms match exactly what I experienced, uneven ride height, rough driving, and those annoying warning lights. My air suspension valve was indeed defective. The mechanic found that moisture had gotten into the valve block, causing corrosion. This affected both the suspension and, surprisingly, the transmission behavior since these systems are interconnected on these models. The repair involved replacing the complete valve block assembly and recalibrating the system. It was quite a serious job, took them two full days to sort it out properly. The suspension components in these cars are pretty complex, and when one part fails, it tends to affect multiple systems. Since getting it fixed, the car's been running perfectly, no more warning lights, smooth gear changes, and proper ride height all around. Hey again! Happy to update you! Yeah, I just had this fixed last month, cost me 590 € for the new valve block and labor. I know it's not cheap, but honestly, it was worth every penny. The car's running like a dream now! Since getting it sorted, everything's stayed perfect, no more warning lights, the ride height's spot-on, and the gearbox is shifting smooth as butter. I was also worried about other issues popping up afterward, but nope, all good so far! The mechanic did a thorough job checking everything while they had it up on the lift. If you're nervous about hidden problems, I'd suggest asking your mechanic to do a full suspension system check while they're at it. Better to catch any potential issues early, right? Thanks so much for all the info! I actually just got my car back from the shop yesterday. You were spot on about everything! Found a specialist mechanic who really knew their stuff. The final bill came to a bit more than yours, they found some worn bushings that needed replacing while they were in there. But what a difference! Car's sitting perfectly level now, and that rough ride is completely gone. Even my transmission's behaving itself again. Funny thing, when I went to pick it up, the mechanic showed me the old valve block. It was totally corroded, just like you mentioned. Can't believe I drove around with it like that for so long! Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Helped me feel much more confident about getting it sorted.
