Thanks for sharing your experience! That sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Would you mind telling me how much you ended up paying for the repair? And has everything been working fine since they fixed it, or have you had any other electrical gremlins pop up? Want to know what I might be in for with this repair.
Hey again! Just wanted to follow up, I actually took my car to the mechanic last week and I'm glad to report it's all sorted now. The issue was indeed a faulty light switch, much simpler than my previous wiring harness problem. They found a bad cable connection that was causing all those lighting gremlins. The total bill came to 95€, which honestly wasn't as painful as I expected. Since the repair, everything's been working perfectly, all lights responding as they should, no more permanent low beam, and those annoying error messages are gone. Such a relief! This was definitely a much easier fix than my previous wiring harness issue I mentioned before. It's nice when these things turn out to be straightforward repairs rather than major electrical problems. And no, I haven't had any other electrical issues pop up since then. The car's running like a charm now. Hope this helps give you an idea of what you might be looking at. Sometimes these electrical issues sound scarier than they actually are!
Thanks for the update! I finally took my car to the mechanic too. What a relief, turned out to be a relatively simple fix. The mechanic found a loose connection in the control module and some worn-out wiring that needed replacing. Cost me about 150€ in total, parts and labor included. Had me worried for nothing! The repair only took a couple hours, and I've been driving for a week now with zero issues. All the lights are working perfectly, and those annoying error messages are gone. Really glad I didn't put it off any longer. Funny how we get worked up about these things, especially after bad experiences. This mechanic was actually great, explained everything clearly and didn't try to upsell me on unnecessary repairs. Guess I've found my new go-to shop for future issues! Thanks again for sharing your experience. It really helped me take the plunge and get this sorted out!
I had a similar issue with my 2017 BMW 7 Series Hybrid last winter. Initially thought it was just a faulty switch, but turned out the main wiring harness connection to the light control module was corroded and had some loose pins. Took it to the garage after my lights started acting weird, high beams wouldn't turn off and the auto-light function completely stopped working. The diagnostic showed multiple lighting system faults, just like yours. The technician found moisture had gotten into the main connector, causing connection issues. They had to clean the terminals, replace some pins, and reseal the connection properly. It wasn't a major mechanical problem, but it definitely needed professional attention since it's part of the car's safety system. Not trying to worry you, but I wouldn't drive too long with faulty lights. Best to get it checked soon, electrical issues can be tricky and might affect other systems if left unchecked. The repair actually took less time than I expected, about half a day's work.
