Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! My 5 Hybrid is at 70658 KM and recently serviced last month. I'm getting error code P1B4A, and it happened pretty suddenly, just started beeping like crazy during a regular parking maneuver. I'll definitely have my mechanic check the wiring connections based on your suggestion. Really hoping it's just a simple fix like yours was. Did you notice any warning lights on the dashboard before the beeping started?
Hey again! Been following your situation and yes, it does sound very similar to what I experienced. With my 3 Hybrid, I actually didn't get any warning lights before the beeping chaos started, it just went from working perfectly fine to going nuts during a routine parking attempt, just like yours. That error code P1B4A is exactly what I had too! I forgot to mention in my first reply, but my car had around 65000 KM when this happened. Since you mentioned yours was recently serviced, you might want to check if they accidentally disturbed any connections during the service, sometimes these things can get knocked loose. Just to add to my previous response about the wiring, when my mechanic dug deeper, they found some moisture had gotten into one of the sensor connectors, which caused the corrosion I mentioned. The continuous beeping is typically the system's way of saying "I can't get proper readings from the sensors." If your mechanic finds the same issue, make sure they properly seal the connections after fixing them. Mine added some extra protection to prevent future moisture problems, and I haven't had any issues since. Fingers crossed it's the same straightforward fix for you!
Thanks so much for all the detailed info! That's really helpful to know about the moisture issue, makes total sense given how the sensors are exposed to all sorts of weather. I'll definitely mention this to my mechanic and ask them to check for any loose connections from the recent service. It's such a relief to hear you got it sorted without any major repairs or crazy expenses. I've got an appointment scheduled for tomorrow morning, and I'll make sure they check those sensor connections and sealing. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it's given me a much better idea of what to expect. Will let you know how it turns out!
Hey there! I have some experience working on hybrids and dealt with a very similar issue on my 2018 BMW 3 Hybrid last year (also love the 5 series, btw!). Had the exact same symptoms, parking sensors going crazy and assistant not working. Took it to my trusted workshop and they found it was just a faulty wiring connection to one of the parking sensors. They had to replace some corroded cables and reseat the connections properly. The whole thing cost me 95 Euro and it's been working perfectly since. Could you share what error code you're getting? Also, did this start suddenly or was it gradual? This could help pinpoint if you're dealing with the same issue I had.
