After taking it to the mechanic, turned out it was indeed the cable/plug connection that was acting up, just like I suspected. Only cost me 95€ to fix, which was honestly a relief since I was worried it might be something more serious. Since getting it fixed, the car's been running like a dream. The damping adjustment is back to normal, and that annoying warning light hasn't shown up again.
