Thanks so much for sharing your experience. It's really helpful knowing someone else went through this. I'm seriously considering getting mine checked out after reading about your wheel bearing situation, definitely don't want to risk any wheel lock-ups! Just wondering, do you remember roughly how much you paid for the whole repair job? Also, has everything been running smoothly since, or have you noticed any other issues popping up?
Happy to give you an update! Everything's been running perfectly fine since my last repair. I just had the tire valve sensor replaced last week actually, cost me 280 € but totally worth it as that annoying tire pressure warning is finally gone. Such a relief! About the wheel bearings repair from last year, if I remember correctly, the total came to around 800 € including parts and labor. Might sound steep, but considering the safety risk of faulty bearings, I'd say it was money well spent. My steering's been smooth as silk since then, and I haven't had a single warning light come on (well, until that recent valve sensor issue). I can definitely sleep better knowing everything's fixed properly. If you're still having those symptoms, seriously don't wait too long to get it checked. Better safe than sorry with these things, especially with BMWs! Let me know how it goes when you get yours looked at.
Hi! Just wanted to give you a quick update. Took your advice and finally got the car checked out by a new mechanic. You were spot on, turned out I had worn wheel bearings and a faulty sensor too! Got everything fixed yesterday. The total bill came to a bit more than yours, but what a difference it's made! The steering's back to normal, no more shaking, and those annoying warning lights are finally gone. The mechanic was actually really good, took time to explain everything and showed me the worn parts. Such a relief to have it sorted. Thanks again for pushing me to get it checked, you probably saved me from bigger problems down the road. Car's driving like new now!
Hey there! I had similar symptoms with my 2015 BMW 3 Series diesel last year. Your issue sounds familiar, mine turned out to be a faulty tire valve sensor combined with worn wheel bearings. The steering shake and hard turning were directly connected to the bad bearings, while the ABS light came on due to the malfunctioning sensor. Got it checked at my garage, it was actually quite serious since the worn bearings could've led to wheel lock-up if left unchecked. Took them about a day to replace both front wheel bearings and fix the valve sensor. The steering returned to normal right after, and all warning lights cleared up. With 194k km on your car, it's definitely worth getting those bearings checked. Would suggest not driving too long with these symptoms as they can worsen quickly. The tire pressure warning might be related or separate, but since it's all connected to your wheel system, better have it all checked at once.
