Check engine light on

HELP! BMW 4 (2023) engine problems, looking for advice! Having troubles with my 2023 BMW 4 (105,265 km, gas engine). The engine's running rough, losing power, and stalling at idle. Check engine light is on, and it's jerking during acceleration. Failed emissions too. Had a bad experience with my last mechanic, so I'm hesitant to go back. Has anyone experienced similar symptoms? Could it be a fuel mixture issue? Looking for recommendations on reliable mechanics who know BMWs and what to expect for repairs.

I had very similar issues with my BMW 3 Series (2020) last year. The symptoms were identical, rough running, power loss, and jerking during acceleration. After diagnostic tests, it turned out to be faulty fuel injectors. Two of them were clogged and one was completely defective. The repair involved replacing three injectors and cleaning the fuel system. It was definitely a serious issue that needed immediate attention, as bad injectors can cause more engine damage if left unfixed. Not to mention the poor fuel economy and failed emissions. The job took about a day at the garage. I'd strongly recommend getting it checked soon, these symptoms typically don't improve on their own. Make sure to find a shop that specializes in European cars, as they'll have the right diagnostic tools for BMWs. My advice would be to request the garage to show you the defective parts after replacement. That's what I did, and it helped me understand exactly what went wrong.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I dealt with similar fuel injector problems on my BMW too, really sounds like what I went through. I'm just wondering, do you remember roughly how much the repair ended up costing you? Also, has everything been running smoothly since you got it fixed, or have you noticed any other issues pop up? I'm trying to get a better idea of what to expect moving forward with mine.

Hey! Glad to help follow up. Since you asked, the total repair came to 515 € for replacing the faulty injector and sorting out the mixture preparation error. And I've got great news, the car's been running like a dream since the fix! No more jerking, stalling, or any of those headaches we discussed. To be honest, I was pretty nervous about potential ongoing issues, but it's been completely smooth sailing. The engine's back to its old self, responsive, smooth power delivery, and none of that rough running we talked about. The emissions are spot on now too. I'm actually really relieved I got it sorted when I did. My mechanic mentioned that leaving faulty injectors unfixed could've led to bigger (and much more expensive) problems down the line. If you're still having similar symptoms, I'd definitely recommend getting it checked out sooner rather than later. I know dealing with car troubles can be stressful, but once you get this sorted, you should be back to enjoying that BMW performance we all love. Let me know if you need any other info!

Thanks so much for all the detailed info about the repair costs and follow-up! Actually, I bit the bullet and took my car to a BMW specialist yesterday. You were spot on, it was definitely the fuel injectors causing all the trouble. The mechanic I found was really professional, showed me exactly what was wrong, and fixed everything up. The repair cost was a bit higher than yours at 780 € because I needed multiple injectors replaced, but honestly, it was worth every penny. The car's running amazingly now, no more stalling, jerking, or power loss. The check engine light's finally off, and it passed emissions with flying colors. Funny thing is, I was so worried about getting ripped off again, but this mechanic was fantastic. They even showed me the old injectors and explained why they failed. Should've done this weeks ago instead of stressing about it! Really appreciate you sharing your experience, helped me make the right call.

Let our mechanics help you!
