Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful since I've been worried about mine. My ABS light is still acting up intermittently. Just wondering, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair job? Also, has everything been working fine since the fix, or have you noticed any other related issues popping up? I'm trying to get a better idea of what I might be in for with this repair.
Hey again! Good to hear back from you. Just wanted to let you know that after getting it fixed, my BMW has been running perfectly, no more ABS warnings at all! The lateral acceleration sensor fault was completely resolved after they replaced the defective control unit. The total bill came to 1000 € including parts and labor, which wasn't cheap but definitely worth it for the peace of mind. I've put about 15,000 km on it since the repair and haven't had a single issue with the ABS or any related systems. The braking feels much more reliable now too. If your symptoms are similar to what I experienced, I'd definitely recommend getting it checked out. These sensor/control unit problems usually don't fix themselves, and like I mentioned before, you really don't want to mess around with brake safety systems. Better to bite the bullet now than risk bigger problems down the road. Let me know if you need any other info about the repair process. Always happy to help out a fellow BMW owner!
Thanks again for all the details! I actually bit the bullet and took my car to a certified BMW specialist yesterday. Turns out you were right about not waiting, the mechanic found that my ABS module was failing, pretty similar to your situation. Got it all sorted now. Ended up paying about 1200 € for the whole job, a bit more than yours but they also found and fixed a minor wiring issue while they were at it. The repair took about a day and a half, and honestly, the difference in braking performance is noticeable. Funny thing is, I was so worried about getting ripped off that I almost kept putting it off. But the mechanic actually showed me the faulty parts and explained everything really well. Definitely feeling better about the whole thing now. Thanks for giving me the push I needed to get it checked out!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2019 BMW 3 Series last winter. The ABS light started acting up, and it turned out to be more than just a sensor problem. The control unit was actually defective and needed replacement. Initially thought it was just a sensor thing like yours, but when my mechanic ran diagnostics, they found that the entire ABS control module was failing. Got it fixed since it's a critical safety component, you really don't want to risk ABS issues, especially in emergency braking situations. The repair involved replacing the ABS control module and recalibrating the system. Not a quick fix, took about two days at the shop. Just a heads up, these issues tend to get worse if left unchecked, so I'd recommend getting it looked at sooner rather than later.
