Hey thanks for your reply! My 4 EV has 101939 KM on the clock, and I've had it since my last service about 3 months ago. Actually, haven't noticed any other electrical issues, everything else seems to be working fine. The emergency call thing is the only problem I'm seeing right now. That's really helpful to know about your experience with the battery replacement. The price sounds reasonable too. I'll probably get it checked out by my regular mechanic just to be sure. Thanks for sharing your insights, definitely gives me a better idea of what I might be dealing with!

Hey again! Yep, looking at your mileage and comparing it to what happened with my i3, it definitely sounds like the same battery issue I dealt with. My car had around 95,000 KM when I faced this problem, so we're in the same ballpark. Good to hear you're not having any other electrical problems, that was exactly my case too. The emergency call battery is pretty isolated from other systems, which is why everything else keeps working normally. These backup batteries are designed to be independent for safety reasons. I'd definitely recommend getting it checked soon though. Since everything else is working fine, it should be a quick fix just like mine was. My mechanic told me these batteries typically last 3-4 years, so the timing makes sense for your 2020 model. Just make sure your mechanic uses an original BMW battery, that's what I did and haven't had any issues since the replacement. The aftermarket ones can be hit or miss in my experience. Let me know how it goes after you get it checked out! Always curious to hear if others have the same experience I did with these EVs.

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! Yeah, I think I'll schedule an appointment with my mechanic this week. From what you've shared, it really does sound like the same battery issue you had. It's actually quite reassuring to know this is a common thing with these models and not some major electrical problem. The fact that you haven't had any issues since the replacement is great news too. I'll definitely insist on an original BMW battery, don't want to take chances with aftermarket parts on something safety-related like this. I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and all the technical details. I'll let you know how it goes after I get it sorted. Thanks again for helping me understand what I'm dealing with!

Hey there! I've got some experience with EVs (moderate expertise level). Had a similar issue with my 2018 BMW i3 last year. My emergency call system was acting up just like yours, and it turned out to be the emergency battery. These backup batteries tend to die after a few years, which is pretty normal. Took it to my regular workshop, and they confirmed it was completely discharged. The replacement was straightforward, took about an hour. Cost me 110 Euro for the whole deal, including labor. Since then, the emergency call system's been working perfectly. What's your current mileage and how long have you had your 4 EV? Also, have you noticed any other electrical issues? This info would help me understand if your situation matches what I experienced with my i3 (BMW's also got the iX model from that period, which had similar systems).
