Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! Definitely sounds similar to what I'm dealing with. Mine's at 185652 KM and just had its annual service last month. Haven't had any work done in the pedal area recently, but I'll get those error codes scanned properly tomorrow. Really hope it's just the switch connection like in your case, that repair cost sounds way better than what I was fearing! Will keep you posted on what the scan reveals. Appreciate the detailed info about your experience with this.
Hey again! Thanks for the follow-up. Yeah, the mileage on your car is pretty close to what mine had when the issue popped up (around 178000 KM). After my earlier experience with this problem, I remembered another detail that might help, before the complete failure, I noticed the cruise control would sometimes work intermittently, especially on cold mornings. Did you notice anything like that? When I got mine scanned, the error codes were related to the clutch pedal sensor circuit. The workshop found that moisture had gotten into the connector over time, causing corrosion. That's why it was acting up more in cold weather. Since you mentioned you just had your annual service, it's good timing to get this checked out before it potentially gets worse. In my case, I waited a bit too long and ended up having some really annoying cold starts. Let me know what the scan shows, if it's the same issue, it should be a pretty straightforward fix. The part itself is pretty cheap, and labor isn't too bad since it's easily accessible. Fingers crossed it's as simple as mine was!
Thanks for that additional insight! You're right, now that you mention it, I did notice the cruise control was acting weird before it completely stopped working, especially during cold starts. It would sometimes kick in and then suddenly disengage. Really helpful to know about the moisture issue too, we've had some pretty wet weather lately, so that could definitely be a factor. Just got back from getting those error codes scanned, and guess what? They're pointing to the clutch pedal sensor circuit, just like in your case! The mechanic also mentioned seeing some corrosion on the connector when they checked it out. Looks like I'm dealing with almost exactly the same problem you had. Going to get it fixed next week, they quoted me about 100 Euro total, which seems pretty reasonable. Really glad I asked here first, saved me a lot of worry about potentially bigger issues. Thanks again for all the details about your experience, it's been super helpful in figuring this out!
Hey there! I've had some experience working on cars, and this reminds me of an issue I faced with my 2017 BMW 3 Series diesel (previous owner of both a 3 and 5 series). I had very similar symptoms, engine starting without clutch engagement, no cruise control, and gear indicator issues. Took it to my regular workshop and they diagnosed a faulty clutch pedal switch connection. The cables and connector were worn out and making poor contact. Got it fixed for around 95 Euro including labor, and all problems disappeared. Before you proceed, could you share if you've had any recent work done near the pedal area? Also, have you scanned for the specific error codes? This would help narrow down if we're dealing with the same issue. Just keep in mind that even similar symptoms can have different causes in different cars, but this sounds very familiar to what I experienced.
