Wipers don't work properly

Hey! Yeah, mine just hit 32236 KM and had my last service about 2 months ago. Had similar symptoms to what you described with your 3 Series. This happened pretty much out of nowhere, was working fine one day, completely dead the next. Getting error code P349B on the dash. Haven't checked the fuse box yet since I'm not too handy with cars, but that's a good suggestion. Might try that before taking it to the shop. Thanks for the detailed info about the wiring harness, definitely gives me something specific to mention to my mechanic!
Hey again! Thanks for getting back with those details. You know what's funny? After I wrote about my wiper issue, I actually remembered another problem I had with my 3 Series about a year before the wiring harness situation. Getting that same P349B error code you mentioned! In my case back then, I first thought it was the relay too, but it turned out to be a failing rain sensor module. These things can be tricky because they control both the auto function and communicate with the manual controls. My mechanic said these sensors tend to fail around the 30-35k mark, which fits right in with your mileage. Quick heads up though, when you check the fuse box, look specifically for fuse #23 (should be a 15A one). Mine looked fine at first glance but was actually slightly burned on the bottom. Definitely worth double-checking that before diving into more complex fixes. Still, given your error code matches what I experienced, I'd put my money on that rain sensor module. The repair was pretty straightforward and not too expensive. Just make sure they calibrate the new sensor properly, learned that the hard way when my wipers kept activating at unusual times for a week after the first repair attempt! Let me know how it goes with the fuse check. Happy to share more details about my experience if you need them.
Thanks so much for all this detailed help! Just checked fuse #23 like you suggested, and surprisingly it does look a bit discolored at the bottom, good catch! But given what you mentioned about the rain sensor module failing around my mileage point, and especially since we're getting the same error code, that really sounds like it could be the culprit. It's actually a relief to hear the repair wasn't too expensive and relatively straightforward when you had it done. I'll definitely make sure to mention both the rain sensor module and the fuse situation to my mechanic when I take it in tomorrow. And thanks for the heads up about the calibration, will make sure they do that properly so I don't end up with out of nowhere activating wipers! Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it's super helpful having this information before heading to the workshop. I'll drop another update once I get it sorted out!
Hey there! I have some experience working on cars and ran into a similar issue with my 2017 BMW 3 Series. Those wiper problems can be super annoying, especially when you need them most! Had the exact same symptoms, wipers completely dead, error code and all. Took it to my regular workshop and turns out it was just a faulty connection in the wiring harness going to the wiper motor. They had to trace the connection, found a corroded plug, replaced it and rewired that section. Total bill was around 95 Euro and it's been working perfectly since then. Before you head to the workshop, could you share: Which error code you're getting? Did this happen suddenly or did you notice any intermittent issues before? Have you checked the fuse box already? This could help pinpoint if you're dealing with the same problem or something else.
