Hey, your answer comes just in time! Thanks a lot first of all. It sounds like you had pretty much the same problem I just had with my BMW 2 Series. Stressful, isn't it? I'm a little nervous about the complete transmission overhaul, to be honest. Do you happen to remember how deep you had to dig into your pocket for that? And has anything happened again since then or is everything running smoothly again? Thank you!

Hey, yes, that was damn stressful! But since the visit to the mechanic, the problem with the transmission oil pressure sensor has been fixed and my little darling is running like clockwork again. However, the whole thing wasn't exactly cheap, I had to fork out around €1000 to repair the transmission control unit. But I haven't had any further problems since. So it was worth every penny and I can only recommend that you have it done. All the best with it!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply and the helpful information! It looks like I have a rough direction to go in. 1000€ sounds hefty at first, of course, but if it solves the problem in the long run, it's probably worth it. The most important thing is that the car is running again and no longer has any problems. So the next trip is straight to the garage, let's see what the mechanic says. Thanks again for your help and advice! Take care and have a safe journey!

Did you have the control unit repaired or the transmission control unit, i.e. the mechatronics? Because I think you probably had the mechatronics replaced, i.e. practically the gearshift of the transmission itself.

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2014 BMW 3 series diesel. There was constant jerking and that unfortunate grinding noise every time I changed gears. The warning light was also active and it turned out that there was a serious problem with my transmission unit, not just the transmission oil pressure sensor. In my experience, the trip to the garage was extremely necessary. They had to overhaul the entire transmission. I hope it helps you make a decision. All the best!
