Thanks for sharing your experience! Mine's the gasoline variant and I just had it serviced last month at 156412 km. Getting P0441 and P0442 codes, which does point to the evap system like you mentioned. Good to know it wasn't a major repair in your case. Definitely sounds similar to what I'm experiencing. I was worried it might be something more serious, but hearing about your fix gives me some hope! Did your mechanic mention how long the repair job took? I'd like to plan ahead for the downtime.
Hey again! Thanks for those details, yeah, those fault codes definitely ring a bell. My 328i had the exact same P0441 and P0442 codes. When my mechanic did the repair, it took about 3-4 hours total. The longest part was actually diagnosing and tracing the exact location of the clog in the system. Once they found it, the actual fix was pretty quick. I remember I dropped it off in the morning and picked it up after lunch. Just so you know, after they fixed mine, they recommended checking the gas cap seal too, apparently, these can wear out and cause similar issues. Mine was actually a bit worn, but not bad enough to need replacement yet. Might be worth having them take a look at yours while they're at it. Honestly, given your symptoms are so similar to what I experienced, I'm pretty confident you're dealing with the same thing. It's annoying but definitely not one of those wallet-destroying BMW repairs we all dread! Let me know how it goes when you get it fixed, always curious to hear if others have the same experience I did with these cars.
Thanks so much for all that detailed information! Really appreciate you taking the time to explain everything. Those repair times actually work perfectly with my schedule, I can drop it off early morning and still make my afternoon appointments. And that's a great tip about the gas cap seal, I'll definitely have them check that too while they're working on it. Feels much better knowing this is a relatively straightforward fix and not something major. Always get nervous when these things happen with BMW repairs! I'll schedule it for next week and will definitely update here once it's sorted. Super helpful to connect with someone who's been through the exact same thing. Going to call my mechanic tomorrow and let them know about the clogged ventilation system possibility, should give them a good starting point. Really appreciate all your help and insights on this!
Hi there! I've got some experience with BMWs since I dealt with similar symptoms on my 2009 BMW 3 series (328i). I'd say I have low experience, mostly learning through my own car issues. Had the same emergency mode and stalling problems. Took it to my trusted mechanic who found clogged hoses in the ventilation system. The fix wasn't too complex but cost me around 175 Euro. Since then, the car's been running smoothly with no more CEL or stalling issues. Could you share which engine variant you have in your 1 series? Also, are you getting any specific fault codes? This would help me understand if it's the same issue I faced.
