Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful since it sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. It's good to know you got it sorted with just replacing one injector instead of the whole set. Would you mind sharing what the repair ended up costing you? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other issues pop up? Just want to make sure I'm prepared for what might come next.
Hey there! Happy to give you an update. I got the injector replaced and it cost me 515 € all in, parts and labor. The mechanic showed me that the engine was indeed running too lean because of that faulty injector, just like I suspected. Since the repair, my BMW's been running like a dream! No more jerking, rough idle, or power loss issues. The engine's super smooth now and performs exactly like it should. Honestly, it's such a relief not having to worry about causing more damage to the engine. I know some suggest replacing all injectors at once, but I'm really glad I just went with fixing the bad one. It's been about 6 months now, and I haven't had a single problem pop up. The check engine light's stayed off too, which is always nice to see. If you're experiencing the same symptoms, I'd definitely recommend getting it checked out soon. The peace of mind alone is worth it, and it's better to fix it now before it causes any other issues. Let me know if you need any other details about the repair!
Thanks so much for all that detailed info! I actually just got back from the mechanic yesterday. You were spot on, it was indeed a faulty injector! My repair came in a bit higher at 680 € since they had to do some additional fuel system cleaning, but honestly, it was worth every penny. The whole experience wasn't nearly as stressful as I'd feared. The mechanic was really transparent, showed me the damaged injector, and explained everything clearly. Like your case, they suggested replacing all injectors, but I followed your lead and just did the faulty one. Took it for a test drive today and wow, what a difference! The engine's running super smooth now, no more jerking or power issues. Really glad I didn't wait any longer to get it fixed. And you're right about the peace of mind, it's such a relief not having that check engine light staring at me anymore! Thanks again for helping me make this decision. It really helped having someone share their similar experience!

Had similar symptoms on my 2018 BMW 2 Series last summer. The rough idle, jerking, and power loss were exactly what I experienced. Turns out it was a faulty fuel injector. The diagnostic showed cylinder 2 wasn't getting proper fuel delivery. After getting it checked at the garage, they found carbon buildup had damaged the injector. They had to replace the defective injector and clean the fuel system. It was a serious issue that needed immediate attention because bad injectors can cause misfires and eventually damage other engine components. The whole repair took about a day and a half. They also recommended changing all injectors as preventive maintenance, but I only replaced the faulty one. Haven't had any issues since then. Would definitely suggest getting it checked soon, these symptoms usually don't fix themselves and can lead to bigger problems if ignored. Hope this helps with your decision.
