Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That really helps, as it sounds spot on with what I'm dealing with. Do you mind me asking how much you ended up paying for the whole wiring repair job? And has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other issues popping up? Just want to make sure I'm prepared for what might come.
Hey again! Happy to give you an update! I just got my car back from the mechanic last week and I'm glad I followed through with the repair. The total came to 95€ for fixing those cable connections, which honestly wasn't as bad as I was expecting. The Low pressure fuel system sensor that wasn't working got sorted out during the repair too, turns out it was all connected to those dodgy wiring issues. The car's running like a dream now! No more black smoke, engine's super smooth, and my fuel economy has gone back to normal. Haven't had a single problem since the fix. The check engine light's finally off too, which is such a relief. I'd definitely say get yours checked out, these electrical issues can be tricky to diagnose yourself but a good mechanic should spot it pretty quickly. Trust me, it's worth getting it sorted before it causes any more problems. Just make sure they check those cable connections thoroughly! Did you want me to tell you more about what specific work they did? Happy to share more details if it helps!
Thanks so much for all the detailed info! Just got back from the mechanic today actually. You were right, it was definitely worth getting it checked out promptly. Similar to your case, my wiring was shot in several spots. Cost me a bit more, around 120€, since they had to replace more connections and do some extra diagnostic work. Honestly, I'm just relieved it's fixed now. The car's running beautifully, no more black smoke, weird smells, or that annoying check engine light. Took it for a proper drive yesterday and the difference is like night and day! Fuel consumption has improved dramatically too. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it gave me the push I needed to get it sorted instead of putting it off. Sometimes these older Hondas just need a bit of TLC to keep them running smoothly. Thanks again for all your help!
Hey there! I had really similar issues with my 2004 Honda Accord (gasoline, 72k km). The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I experienced, black smoke, rough running, and that annoying check engine light. Turned out the main problem wasn't the fuel sensor, it was defective cable connections to multiple engine components. The wiring had degraded and wasn't making proper contact. The connections to the fuel injectors and various sensors were pretty corroded. Got it fixed at a garage last month. The mechanic had to replace several wiring harnesses and clean up the connection points. It was a serious job that took almost a full day, but the car's running like new now. No more black smoke, engine runs smooth, and fuel economy is back to normal. Your symptoms definitely need proper diagnosis, best to get it checked soon before it potentially causes more damage to other components.
