Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! This sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. I'm relieved to hear you got it sorted out properly. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? And has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other issues pop up? I'm trying to get a better idea of what I'm in for, both cost-wise and long-term.
Hey there! Yes, the whole repair for my Cayenne came to 1550€ at the Porsche service center. And I've got great news, since getting it fixed, everything's been running like a charm! The heavy load warning on the DPF completely disappeared after they fixed the internal defect, and I haven't had a single issue since then. No more black smoke, engine's got its full power back, and it feels just like new. I've put on quite a few miles since the repair, and I'm honestly really happy I got it sorted at the dealer rather than trying to save a few bucks elsewhere. These DPF systems are pretty complex, and having someone who really knows what they're doing makes all the difference. I know it wasn't cheap, but considering how well it's running now, it was definitely worth every penny. Just make sure you get it done soon, these problems tend to get worse (and more expensive) if you leave them too long. Good luck with your Panamera! Let me know how it goes.
Thanks so much for all the details! I bit the bullet and took my Panamera to the Porsche service center yesterday. You were spot on, it was the DPF, and they found some issues with the EGR valve too. The whole thing set me back about 1700€, a bit more than yours because of the extra EGR work. Got the car back today and wow, what a difference! No more black smoke, the engine's got its punch back, and that horrible smell is gone. The service team was super professional and even gave me a detailed report of everything they did. Really glad I asked here and followed your advice about going to the dealer. Might've been pricier than some local shops, but the peace of mind is worth it. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me make the right decision. Just hoping this fix lasts as long as yours has! Better get back to enjoying my smoke-free rides!
I had almost identical issues with my 2014 Porsche Cayenne Diesel last winter. The symptoms were spot-on with what you're describing, black smoke, sluggish performance, and that nasty exhaust smell. Took it to the Porsche service center, and they diagnosed it as an internally defective DPF. The filter was completely clogged, and forced regeneration wasn't working anymore. They had to remove the DPF, take it apart, and found that the internal honeycomb structure was partially collapsed. This was definitely a serious issue that needed immediate attention to prevent further engine damage. The fix involved installing a new DPF unit and resetting all the related sensors. They also did a thorough check of the EGR system since these issues often go hand in hand. Got it back after a few days, and it's been running perfectly since, no more smoke, full power restored, and normal exhaust. Definitely recommend going to a certified Porsche specialist for this one. DPF issues can be tricky, and you'll want someone who knows these engines inside out.
