Thanks for sharing your experience! My Panamera's at 16665 KM and just had its service recently. I haven't scanned for codes yet, but the symptoms started about a week ago. The black smoke only shows up during hard acceleration. Your lambda sensor issue sounds pretty similar to what I'm experiencing, might be worth checking that out. I'll probably take it to my local Porsche dealer to have them scan it properly, but it's good to know what they might find. Thanks for the cost estimate too, helps to have an idea what I might be looking at!
Hey again! Thanks for the additional details. Yeah, after dealing with my Macan's issues, this really sounds like it could be the same lambda sensor problem. Since your Panamera's only at 16665 KM, you might actually be lucky, it could still be under warranty, especially if it's the original sensor. When mine acted up, it also started pretty suddenly and was most noticeable during hard acceleration, just like yours. The dealer is definitely your best bet right now, especially since you've just had a service. Just make sure to mention the black smoke during acceleration specifically, that's what helped my mechanic pinpoint the issue quickly. One thing I forgot to mention in my first reply, I also noticed better fuel economy after getting the sensor replaced. If you've been seeing worse fuel consumption lately, that's another sign pointing to the lambda sensor. Keep us posted on what the dealer finds! Would be interesting to see if it's the same issue. I'm betting it is, given how similar the symptoms are to what I experienced with my Macan.
Thanks for the follow-up! That's really helpful information about the fuel economy, now that you mention it, I have noticed I'm filling up more frequently than usual. I'll definitely bring that up when I take it to the dealer tomorrow. Will make sure to have them check the lambda sensor first thing, given how similar this is to what you experienced. I've already scheduled an appointment, so I'll update everyone once I know what they find. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it's given me a much better idea of what to expect. Fingers crossed it's just the sensor and nothing more serious!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2015 Porsche Macan S . The symptoms you're describing sound very familiar. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty lambda sensor that was causing the black smoke and power loss. Took it to my trusted workshop and they diagnosed it pretty quickly, the exhaust sensor wasn't reading oxygen levels correctly, which messed up the fuel mixture. The fix cost me around 375€, including parts and labor. After replacing the sensor, all those issues, the smoke, power loss, and engine light, disappeared completely. Before I can give more specific advice, could you share: Have you scanned for error codes? When did these symptoms first appear? Is the smoke constant or only during acceleration? Might help pinpoint if you're dealing with the same problem I had.
