Thanks for sharing your experience! That sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Really glad you got it sorted. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much you had to shell out for the repairs? Also, has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other niggles? Cheers!
Hey again! Yeah, I remember the costs clearly, it was 515.00 € for fixing one faulty injector. The mechanic found it was internally defective, and honestly, it was worth every penny. Since getting it fixed last month, my Astra's been running like a dream, no more problems at all! The black smoke is gone, no more rough running, and that annoying shake during idle is history. The repair was pretty straightforward once they diagnosed the issue. I'm actually really glad I didn't wait any longer to get it fixed, could've ended up costing way more if I'd let it go. The car starts perfectly now, even on cold mornings, and the engine runs super smooth. If yours has similar symptoms, I'd definitely recommend getting it checked out sooner rather than later. Best decision I made was getting that injector sorted! Let me know how you get on with yours!
Thanks a lot for all the details! Just wanted to update you all, I took your advice and got my Corsa checked out yesterday. Turns out you were spot on, it was definitely the injectors! Had two of them replaced, and the mechanic also did a thorough fuel system cleaning. The total came to about 900€, which was a bit more than I expected, but honestly, the difference is incredible. No more black smoke, the engine's running smooth, and that awful shaking is completely gone. Even my morning cold starts are perfect now. Found a really decent mechanic too, proper professional who explained everything clearly. Much better than my last experience! They even showed me the old injectors and explained why they'd gone bad. Really appreciate everyone's help on this. Sometimes you just need that push to get things sorted, you know? Car's running like new now, should've done this ages ago! Cheers everyone!
Hey there, I had very similar issues with my 2007 Vauxhall Astra (gasoline). The symptoms you're describing are exactly what I experienced last month, rough running, black smoke, power loss, and that annoying shake at idle. When I took it to the garage, diagnostic tests confirmed it was indeed an injector problem. In my case, two injectors were internally defective and needed replacement. It was a serious job because faulty injectors can damage your engine if left unfixed. The mechanic also had to clean the fuel system to remove carbon deposits that had built up because of the bad injectors. The repair involved removing the fuel rail, replacing the faulty injectors, and recalibrating the new ones. My car runs smooth as butter now, no more shaking, black smoke, or starting issues. For your Corsa, I'd definitely get those injectors checked ASAP. You don't want to risk further engine damage. From my experience, a specialist fuel injection garage would be your best bet, rather than a general mechanic.
