Hey, your conversation has caught my attention! I had a similar problem with my old GrandlandX. Your description reminds me a lot of it. DPF burnt out, engine not pulling, black smoke - I know all these symptoms only too well. Can you remember how expensive this forced regeneration was for you? Has anything else caused problems since the repair? I'm looking forward to your answer!

Hi, it's great that you're getting involved in this topic too! Yes, of course I remember the repair. The diesel particles in my 2019 Astra were defective due to high mileage. That's why a repair and then the aforementioned forced regeneration was necessary. I had to fork out €1550 for it, which was pretty steep, but since then it's been running like clockwork again. Since the workshop visit, I've also had no more problems with the diesel particulate filter. As I said, it was heavily loaded, but the mechanics managed to fix it. So yes, if you notice such symptoms in your car, I recommend not waiting too long and having the DPF checked. Otherwise you could end up paying even more. Hope this helps you!

Hi again, thank you so much for your feedback. It's not nice to hear that others have problems like this, but it helps to know that it's not just me. Your stories have opened my eyes and yes, the 1500€ sounds a lot, but if it solves the problem, it's worth it. Otherwise I risk paying even more if the engine breaks down. I'll go to the garage tomorrow and hope that there's the same simple solution as yours. I'll keep my fingers crossed that only a forced regeneration and DPF check are necessary. Thanks again for your advice and for sharing your experiences. Bye!

Hi, I had exactly the same problem with my 2019 Opel Astra Diesel. The engine was sluggish, the black smoke from the exhaust and this DPF fault were quite similar to your problem. On my Opel, the diesel particulate filter was heavily loaded as you say. I took my car to the garage and the guys then did a forced regeneration. This normally doesn't cost much and solved the problem. They then checked the DPF sensors and determined the ash content in the DPF. They explained to me that this often happens if you drive a lot of short distances. But it was definitely no small matter, because a defective DPF can cause serious engine damage if you don't tackle it in time. So I'd say get it checked and get the necessary work done. Good luck with that!
