Black smoke and performance problems with a 2013 Renault Wind Diesel

Stalling while idling

Check engine light on

Strong exhaust smell

Jerking on acceleration

Engine shuts off by itself

Poor fuel economy

Black smoke from exhaust on acceleration

Loss of engine power

Unsteady engine

Hi guys, I'm a bit annoyed about my 2013 Renault Wind Diesel (71032 km on the clock). The car is causing a lot of trouble. When I accelerate, the exhaust smokes black, the check engine light is on, once the engine even just stopped. Sure, less power, strange engine feeling, jerking when accelerating, well, and the fuel consumption is not without its problems either. When I'm idling, the car just goes out. Not to mention the pungent exhaust smell. My guess is that the fuel injection pressure deviates from the target value. Have any of you had experience with problems like this? How did the whole thing go when you had it checked by the mechanic? To be honest, after the last visit to the mechanic, I'm not exactly keen to consider another expensive repair now. Many thanks in advance for your answers and experiences.

Hi mate, Had a similar problem with my 2010 Renault Clio diesel. It was definitely hard for me, but I found that the fault entry after changing the fuel filter was probably from a clogged or damaged fuel filter. This was causing the black smoke and stench from the exhaust. I know how frustrating this is, my old Clio just stopped in the middle of the road too. I had it checked by the mechanic, who then did a complete fuel system clean and changed the fuel filter. After that, the car ran smoothly again. It turned out that the fuel pressure sensor was slightly off. I know nobody wants to go to the garage, but I think it's pretty likely to be the same problem with you and not really a serious issue. My advice is to go to your mechanic and just have him look over it. Hope that helps you!

Hey mate, ah, that sounds like a laborious but necessary procedure. It seems like my beautiful Renault Wind has similar symptoms. Can you remember how much you paid for the whole fuel system cleaning and fuel filter change? Has anything else come up since this repair that I should be aware of? Thanks for your help!

Hey, sure, I can still remember. I paid around €45 for the repair. So it wasn't too expensive and was really worth it. Since the repair, the fuel injection pressure has definitely returned to normal and there have been no further incidents. I think your Renault Wind should run as normal again afterwards. Just have it checked by your mechanic. Until then, keep your chin up and good luck!

Hey, okay, thanks for the info! 45 sounds like a fair price for the repair. Good to know that it was worth it for you. I'll follow your advice and contact my mechanic tomorrow. Hopefully my Renault will soon be running like clockwork again. Thanks for your help, you've really helped me! Have a pleasant evening!
