Loss of engine power

Hey everyone, need some help with my 2015 Mitsubishi Proudia that's acting up. Getting black exhaust smoke, engine misfires, power loss, and rough idling. Car shakes and jerks during acceleration, and fuel economy has gone downhill. Check engine light is on. I suspect it might be the ignition coil, but wanted to hear from anyone who's dealt with similar symptoms. What exactly did your mechanic find and how was it fixed? Any input would be appreciated.

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2013 Mitsubishi Galant (I have some experience working on cars, but nothing too fancy). Those symptoms sound exactly like what I experienced! My trusted mechanic found that the cable connection to the ignition coil was defective, causing all those problems you described. Got it fixed at my local workshop for about 365 Euro, and the car's been running like new ever since. The whole repair took about 2-3 hours. Could you share more details about your Proudia? Like the engine size and mileage? This would help confirm if we're dealing with the same issue. Also, are you getting any specific error codes with that check engine light?

Thanks for sharing your experience! My Proudia has 81791 KM on it and had its last service about 2 months ago. I'm getting those exact same symptoms you described, the shaking and power loss are really annoying. Haven't pulled the error codes yet, but I'll definitely get that checked. Really hope it's just the ignition coil connection like in your case, as that sounds like a straightforward fix. I've been worried it might be something more serious. Did you notice any warning signs before the problems got bad?

Hey again! Yeah, thinking back to my Galant's issues, I did notice some warning signs before it got really bad. At first, it was just little things, like the car feeling a bit sluggish when accelerating, and occasionally I'd notice slight shaking during idle. But I ignored these (big mistake!) and then suddenly BAM, all those symptoms hit at once. Since you mentioned yours has 81k KM, that's actually pretty similar to when mine started acting up (I was around 85k KM). And the fact that you had a service just 2 months ago makes me think it's definitely the ignition coil connection, these things can sometimes get loose or damaged even after a routine service. Quick tip from my experience, while you're getting those error codes checked, have them look at all the coil connections, not just one. In my case, we initially only fixed one connection, but my mechanic suggested checking all of them since they tend to wear out around the same time. Saved me from having the same problem pop up again a few months later with a different coil! The good news is that if it is the same issue, it's not too expensive to fix and your Proudia should be back to normal in no time. Let me know what those error codes say when you get them!

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! That's really helpful to know about the warning signs, now that you mention it, I did notice some sluggishness a few weeks before things got bad, but like you, I just ignored it. Really appreciate the tip about checking all the coil connections too, definitely don't want to deal with this problem twice! I've actually scheduled an appointment with my mechanic for tomorrow morning to get those error codes checked and have them look at all the connections. Will probably save me some headaches down the road. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it's made me feel a lot better about this whole situation!

Let our mechanics help you!
