Hey, thanks for your quick and helpful reply! It sounds like I have the same problem. Do you remember how much you paid when your diesel particulate filter was replaced? And have you had any other problems with your car since then? I just want to know what I'm in for. Hope you have a few minutes to respond. Thanks again!

Hey, no problem! When I had to have my diesel particulate filter replaced because it was defective due to the high mileage, it cost me €1550. I know that's a hefty price, but since the replacement and repair, I haven't had any further problems. It seems like the diesel particulate issue has been fixed for me for good. So I would say it was worth the money. If your problem is solved in the same way, I'm sure your car will run smoothly again afterwards. Good luck with that!

Great, thanks for the information! It's more expensive than I had hoped, but if it gets my car back on its feet then it's certainly worth it. I'll take it straight to the garage tomorrow morning and hope they can fix my problem too. Thanks again for your support, you've really helped me! I wish you no further problems with your car. See you then!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2005 Renault Laguna. Same symptoms - black smoke, warning light, loss of power and a strong smell. It turned out to be the diesel particulate filter, which was defective due to the high mileage. The last time I was in the workshop, they had to replace the diesel particulate filter completely. There was no other option because of the high mileage. So it seems to be a pretty serious problem, so it's better to have it checked as soon as possible. After all, your car is a bit older and high mileage is known to wear out the filter more quickly. Good luck!
