Hey, no big deal! Yes, it definitely tore a hole in my wallet. I had to fork out €1550 to replace the diesel particulate filter because it was defective due to the high mileage. I know that's a lot of money, but since the workshop visit everything has been running smoothly again and the diesel particulate filter is no longer overloaded. No similar problem has occurred since then. So, I would say it was worth every coin. Hope that helps you a bit!

Hey, thanks in any case for the info! 1550€, uff, that's pretty hefty. But if the car runs smoothly again afterwards and the problem is fixed, it seems to be worth the money. I'll drive to the garage tomorrow and have it checked. I hope everything goes smoothly for me since the replacement. Thanks again for your help!

Hi man, I can totally empathize with you. Had a similar drama with my diesel Skoda Superb from 2013. The same phenomenon, black smoke, check engine light was on, the engine had no more power. The exhaust also smelled pretty bad. A visit to the workshop revealed that the diesel particulate filter (DPF) was completely saturated, hence the DPF regeneration fault. They had to remove the old particulate filter and install a new one. So it was a serious defect due to high mileage, not just a simple service. After the replacement, everything was tip-top again. So then, off to the garage with you! There is no other solution. Be prepared for the DPF to have to be replaced. Good luck with that!
