Black smoke and loss of power in 2011 Renault Fluence - sensor problem?

Loss of engine power

Stalling while idling

Check engine light on

Black smoke from exhaust on acceleration

Jerking on acceleration

Whistling noise

Shaking while idling

Unsteady engine

Loud hissing on acceleration

Hey guys, my 2011 Renault Fluence (gasoline, 144900 km run) has a few problems that are really annoying me. When accelerating, it smokes black from the exhaust, the engine light is on, power is down, the engine runs unevenly and jerks during acceleration. I also have a loud hissing noise when accelerating, plus it stalls at idle, wobbles and makes a whistling noise. I think this could be due to the position sensor of the boost pressure control. Has anyone had similar experiences and can report how it went with your mechanic? The last time wasn't so great, so I'd like to know what I need to prepare for. Thanks in advance!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2014 Renault Mégane. The symptoms were almost the same as yours, except that I didn't have a whistling noise. It also turned out that the boost pressure regulator was electrically defective. The workshop then replaced it and also the vacuum hose, which was also no longer in the best condition. A software update was also carried out, which was necessary according to the workshop. It was therefore a more serious defect that should not be taken lightly. But after the repair, the car ran smoothly again. So far, the problems have not recurred. So don't worry, it will be fine. Concentrate on the diagnosis first and get good advice from your mechanic on what to do next. And above all - don't panic, even if it's annoying.

Hey, it's great that you've had a similar experience, that's reassuring. Can you still remember how much you had to pay for the repairs? And has nothing really come up since then that points to the same fault? Thank you!

Hey, after I went to the mechanic, the position sensor of the boost pressure control was actually mended. It turned out that the boost pressure controller was electrically defective. That cost me €1520. But after that, everything ran like clockwork. So don't worry, it can be fixed. Since then, nothing else has occurred that could indicate the same fault. You're welcome!

Hey, that's great to hear that everything is back on track. The price information is also super helpful. 1520 is not cheap, but if everything works as it should afterwards, it's certainly worth it. Thank you very much for your feedback and experience, it has definitely helped me. Have a nice evening!

Hey, this could also be a defective charge air hose, e.g. due to a marten
