DPF regeneration failure

Hi guys, I have a strange problem with my 2012 Peugeot Partner with diesel engine. When accelerating, black smoke comes out of the exhaust, the check engine light is on, the DPF regeneration is not working properly, the car jerks when accelerating and the exhaust smells strongly. Could this be due to the diesel particulate filter being heavily loaded? Have any of you had similar problems and can give me specific tips? I would like to know more about your repairs and experiences with the garage in this context. Thank you very much!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2014 Peugeot 208 - so very similar to your car. I'm not an expert, but I do have a bit of experience with cars. In my case, the diesel particulate filter (DPF) was internally defective. That was also quite an expensive repair. I paid 1550 euros at my garage at the time. I think that could also be the case for you. Can you perhaps give us more details about your vehicle? The more information we have, the better we can help you.

Hello, thank you for your answer. My Partner is a diesel, built in 2012, and now has 55802 km on the clock. I have serviced it regularly, most recently a few months ago. I hope this helps in some way. Thanks for the support, I hope I don't have to spend too much money!

Hey, no problem, you're welcome. Your car doesn't have that many kilometers on the clock, so I find it strange that you're having such problems. Well, if it really is the DPF, then yes, it can be expensive. But maybe you're lucky and it's just a sensor or something, that's usually cheaper. As I said, in my Peugeot 208 it was the DPF. Start by having the fault memory read out at the garage to see if they can find an exact cause. Good luck, I hope you can solve the problem quickly and cheaply!

Hello, thanks again for your help. I'm also a bit annoyed that such problems are occurring so early on. Well, I'll try to make an appointment at a garage as soon as possible and have the fault memory read out. I really hope it's just a sensor! Thank goodness I still have a bit of money on the high side. I'll let you know when I know more. Until then, thank you very much and stay healthy!

Hello, can I have my rusparticle filter cleaned?

Yes, you can have your diesel particulate filter (DPF) cleaned. It's often a more cost-effective solution than replacing it. Make sure to have it done by a professional to ensure it's cleaned properly and safely. After cleaning, monitor your vehicle's performance to see if the issue is resolved. Let me know if you have any further questions!
