Black smoke and engine problems in Mercedes B-Class 2019 with high mileage

Longer cold start time

Loss of engine power

Unsteady engine

Black smoke from exhaust on acceleration

Car won't start

Check engine light on

Shaking while idling

Stalling while idling

Jerking on acceleration

Hey guys, I have a problem with my gasoline Mercedes B Class 2019, which has already run 170293 km. Whenever I accelerate, black smoke comes out of the exhaust and the check engine light is always on. Cold start takes forever, the engine has less power and runs rough. When I accelerate, it really jerks and sometimes I can't get away because the car won't start. When idling, it often stalls and vibrates violently. Last time the mechanic really ripped me off, so I thought I'd try this first. Could it be the injection valve? Have you experienced anything like this and how did your mechanic fix the problem? Thanks for your help!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2016 Mercedes A Class. My car also showed the same symptoms of not starting immediately, jerking when accelerating and the check engine light was constantly on. In my case, the plug/cable connection was actually defective. The mechanic replaced the defective cable connections and also replaced the plug. He then tested the vehicle to make sure that everything was working properly again. This was already a serious matter because the faulty cable connection was causing significant performance issues and even had the potential to cause further damage if not fixed in time. So it's quite possible that this could be your problem. Maybe have it checked out. It was fine for me afterwards anyway. Good luck with the fix!

Hey, thanks for your feedback! You've already helped me out by pointing out the faulty cable connections. I'll have a look to see if that could be the cause in my case. It would be really annoying if that's the case. Can you remember what you ended up paying for the repair? And did anything else come up afterwards or was your Benz fine again? Looking forward to your answer! Thanks in advance.

Hey, you're welcome! So, I had to pay €155 to repair the plug/cable connection. Not exactly a bargain, but at least the problem has been fixed since then and the Benz is running like a kitten again. The Benz was further optimized by rectifying the fault in the function of the injection valve. After the mechanic had worked on it, there were no more problems. So it was money well spent, I would say. Nothing has happened since then and everything is running smoothly. I hope it works just as quickly for you. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for the info. 155 is quite a lot, but if it helps, it's worth it. And it's good to know that you didn't have any further problems afterwards. I'll have it checked and hope it runs smoothly again. Thanks again for your help! Greetings!
