Thanks for sharing your experience! Good to know it was the pressure sensor in your case. I had this fixed at a local Mitsubishi garage a few months back, do you remember roughly how much you paid for the sensor replacement and DPF cleaning? Also, has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other issues pop up?
Hey again! Just to follow up, yeah, everything's been running perfectly fine since I got it fixed! The whole job cost me 250€, which was mainly for replacing that faulty exhaust back pressure sensor. The best part is that it completely solved the "Differential pressure of the diesel particulate filter too low" error that was causing all those problems. My Outlander's been running like a charm since then, no more black smoke, engine's got its power back, and the DPF's been regenerating just like it should. Honestly, it was money well spent. Haven't had a single DPF-related issue pop up in the months since the repair. Just make sure you don't wait too long if you're having similar symptoms, catching these things early can save you from bigger headaches down the road. I'm really glad I got it sorted when I did. Hope this helps give you a better idea of what you might be looking at cost-wise! Let me know if you need any other info about my experience with this.
Thanks a lot for the detailed info! I actually went ahead and got it fixed at Auto Masters Mitsubishi last week. You were spot on, it was the pressure sensor causing all the trouble. Paid about 280€ for everything, which wasn't too bad considering how much better the car runs now. The mechanic was really honest and showed me the faulty sensor. Did a quick DPF cleaning too while they were at it. The whole thing took about 4 hours, and now my Grandis is running like new, no more black smoke, engine's got its power back, and the DPF light's finally off! Really appreciate everyone's help here. It's such a relief to have this sorted without getting ripped off. Definitely learned my lesson about going to specialized mechanics for these kinds of issues. If anyone else runs into similar problems, I'd be happy to recommend the place I went to. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me make the right decision!
Hey there, I had similar issues with my 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Diesel last year. The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I experienced, black smoke, sluggish acceleration, and DPF troubles. Turned out my exhaust back pressure sensor was faulty, which was preventing proper DPF regeneration. Took it to my local Mitsubishi specialist, and they diagnosed it pretty quick. The sensor wasn't reading the exhaust pressure correctly, so the car's computer couldn't trigger proper DPF regeneration cycles. They had to replace the sensor and clear the error codes. While they were at it, they also cleaned the DPF since it had gotten pretty clogged up due to the sensor issue. It was definitely a serious problem that needed immediate attention, running it too long like that can damage your DPF beyond repair. The whole job took about a day at the garage. After the fix, the engine ran smooth again, no more black smoke, and the DPF started regenerating normally. If you're looking for a shop, I'd suggest finding a certified Mitsubishi specialist rather than a general mechanic. They'll have the right diagnostic tools for these specific issues.
