Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That's super helpful. I'm actually considering going to the same Porsche center in my area. If you don't mind me asking, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other issues pop up? Really appreciate your insight on this!
Hey again! Happy to share, I just got my Cayenne back from the dealer last week actually. The total bill came to 1550€ to fix the Particulate filter efficiency issue. The mechanic explained that the diesel particles were shot due to the high mileage, which is pretty common with these engines. Since the repair, it's been running like a dream, no more black smoke, the engine light's gone, and that annoying exhaust smell has completely disappeared. The performance is back to what it should be too, feels like a proper Porsche again! I'd definitely recommend getting it sorted ASAP at your local Porsche center. These DPF issues can get worse if you leave them too long, and trust me, you don't want that headache. The price might seem steep, but it's worth it for the peace of mind and to protect your engine in the long run. Let me know how you get on with yours, always happy to help a fellow Porsche owner!
Thanks for all the details! I actually just got back from the Porsche center today. You were right about getting it sorted quickly, I'm glad I didn't wait any longer. My bill was a bit higher, around 1800€, but they also found and fixed some minor sensor issues while they were at it. The whole experience was way better than my last mechanic. The service team kept me updated throughout, and they even gave me a detailed walkthrough of what they did. The car's running beautifully now, that sluggish feeling is completely gone, no more black smoke, and the engine light is finally off! Really appreciate your help in pushing me to get this sorted at the proper Porsche center. It's such a relief to have the car back to its normal self. Sometimes paying a bit more for quality service is totally worth it. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me make the right decision!
Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2019 Porsche Cayenne Diesel last year at around 65,000 km. The symptoms you're describing are pretty much identical to what I experienced, black smoke, sluggish performance, and that unmistakable exhaust smell. Took it to my local Porsche specialist, turned out the DPF was seriously clogged and wasn't able to perform proper regeneration cycles anymore. The high soot content was causing the engine to run inefficiently. In my case, they had to replace the DPF unit and reprogram the engine management system. The whole job took about two days. It's definitely not something you want to ignore, a failing DPF can lead to more serious engine problems if left untreated. My advice would be to get it checked at an authorized Porsche center or a specialist who really knows these engines. The newer Panameras have pretty complex emission systems, so you'll want someone with the right diagnostic tools and experience.
