Jerking on acceleration

Help needed, guys! I drive a 2020 Opel Combo with a gasoline engine and already have 116695km on the clock. Recently my car has been smoking black from the exhaust when accelerating and the check engine lights up. In addition, the engine runs irregularly, jerks when accelerating, consumes a lot of fuel and has a strong exhaust smell. Even when idling, the engine sometimes just stalls. I had thought that it might be the low pressure fuel system sensor as it is not working. Has anyone had similar problems? Can you tell me what your experience with the mechanic's repair was like? I had a bad experience with my last garage visit. Is this an expensive or simple repair? I am grateful for any tips!

Hi, I drive a 2017 Opel Insignia and had a similar problem. In my case, the cable connections were defective. Even my check engine light kept showing on. It was the same, the black smoke when accelerating and this jerky driving really worried me. It was a kind of serious problem because such cable defects can affect the complete engine management system. It was necessary to change these cables. My garage had to replace the cable connections on the fuel system and the engine management system. As you can see, you are probably in for a thorough inspection of your car. Hopefully my experience will help clear your head a little. Nevertheless, if I were you, I would contact the garage and have the car checked thoroughly. The symptoms you have could point to many potential causes and it's always better to be safe than sorry. Don't worry, everything will be fine in the end!

Hey, thank you for your detailed reply. Even if it's not the happiest news... Your experience sounds pretty helpful. Could you maybe remember what the fun ended up costing you? And have any other problems arisen since the repair? Looking forward to hearing your feedback.

Of course, I still remember the bill. It cost me €95 to repair the defective cable connections. It wasn't exactly cheap, but it helped to get my Opel running again. Since I've been to the mechanic, it's been running like clockwork again, no kidding. The problem with the low-pressure fuel system sensor that you mentioned was also fixed. So, since the visit to the garage, everything has been fine with me. No further problems or additional costs. I hope that helps you. It's always a mystery with cars, but it'll work out in the end. Good luck with that, buddy!

Ah, thank you, buddy! This information really helps a lot and reassures me a little. 95 euros sounds a lot at first, but if it has fixed the problem and everything has been running smoothly since then, then of course it's worth every penny. I will definitely make an appointment with the mechanic soon and hope that there are no further complications. Thanks again for your help! I wish you a safe journey with your Opel at all times!
