Battery problems and light fluctuations in Citroen DS3 Diesel model year 2015: experiences and solutions from the workshop?

Weak battery when starting the engine

|

Dim or flickering lights

Hey guys, I'm having some problems with my Citroen DS3 Diesel, year 2015. The lights are dimming or flickering and the battery is showing weakness when starting. I suspect that the vehicle battery sensor is giving up the ghost, but I'm not sure. Have any of you had similar experiences? How did you get the problem fixed at the garage and what were your experiences during the process? I am grateful for any tips!

Hi mate, I had a similar problem with my 2017 Citroen C3 diesel, I would describe myself as someone with some experience in dealing with cars. At my garage, they found that the battery sensor microprocessor was faulty. It cost me 315 euros to fix the problem, which was quite expensive, but it fixed the flickering of the lights and the battery now starts perfectly. But every case can be different, maybe you could give me some more information about your car? Things like mileage, when was the last time you changed the battery, etc, might be helpful to help you more accurately. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for your feedback! My DS3 has already done 195216 km and the last inspection was about a year ago. The garage didn't find any problems with the battery back then, so I'm a bit confused. I'll have the battery sensor checked, take your advice to heart and hopefully that will solve my problem. Thanks again!

No problem, buddy! At over 195,000 km, your DS3 is definitely getting old. Don't get me wrong - Citroen makes robust cars, but problems can simply occur over time, especially with the electronic parts. I think your first step should be to have the battery and battery sensor checked at the garage. Ideally, they should be able to diagnose the problem and give you a cost estimate. If that doesn't help, there could also be a short circuit somewhere in the electrical system that is draining the battery. But I would first consider the battery sensor as the cause, if only because you have similar symptoms to what I had. But don't worry, as long as you don't ignore the problem, your Citroen should be able to do many more miles. Good luck with that!

Thank you very much for the detailed answer, it really helps me! Your tip about the battery sensor sounds very sensible and I'll go straight to the garage tomorrow to have it checked. If there is anything else wrong, they should fix it straight away. I just hope it won't be too expensive... but yes, we've been driving the car for quite some time now and the flaws are starting to show. Nevertheless, I love my DS3 and would hate to give it up. Thanks again for the great advice and have a good trip with your C3!
