Battery problems and flickering lights in Seat Mii model year 2019

Weak battery when starting the engine

Dim or flickering lights

Hi, I have a problem with my Seat Mii model year 2019, gasoline engine. Recently the battery has been acting up when starting and the lights flicker or are dim. I suspect that the battery is probably very discharged due to self-discharge. Have any of you had experiences like this and can tell me how you solved the problem in the workshop or give me any tips? I am grateful for any help!

Hi, I've had a similar problem with my 2017 Seat Ibiza. I'm not a professional, but I do have a bit of experience with cars. The problem with my car was not the battery, but the control unit was faulty. The symptoms were similar to yours, the lights flickered and it was difficult to start the car. It cost my garage 600 euros to replace the control unit and that solved the problem. Can you perhaps tell me a bit more about your car, for example how many kilometers it has driven or how long you have had it? Maybe then I can help you even better.

Thanks for the quick reply. My Mii now has 16536 km on it. The problem occurred after the last service. I'm really at a loss as the garage didn't mention anything during the last inspection. I'm grateful for any tips!

Hello again! Good to know that your Mii is still quite young with its 16,536 km. At this age, I would also suspect a problem with the electrical system or the control unit rather than the battery, especially if the symptoms occurred directly after the service. Can you check again whether all the cables are connected correctly and whether there are any signs of damage? If the workshop overlooked something during the last service, Baden contacts or loose cables could be the cause. And if I were you, I would perhaps try a different diagnostic device to see if it recognizes the fault. If none of this helps, I would contact Seat customer support or ask a local specialist. I hope this helps you a little. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for the emphatic advice. I will check the cable connections and get another diagnostic device. If none of that helps, I will definitely contact Seat customer support. Thanks again, you've helped me a lot!
