Battery and lighting problems with Mercedes SLC Class 2015

Dim or flickering lights

Weak battery when starting the engine

Hi guys, Does anyone have experience with similar problems as I have with my 2015 Mercedes SLC class petrol with 117936 km mileage? When starting, the battery is weak, the lights flicker or are partially dim. I assume it could be due to a heavily discharged vehicle battery caused by self-discharge. I didn't have very good experiences with my last garage. What was it like for you? Has anyone ever had a similar incident with their car and how did the garage deal with it? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a fairly similar problem with my 2012 Mercedes SLK Class. Mine also had a faulty control unit. My car had pretty similar symptoms to yours - when starting, the battery was low and the lights flickered. It's a very important thing, because the control unit plays a crucial role for all the electronics in the car. At my garage, the guys first read the fault with the OBD scanner, then they replaced the faulty control unit with a new one and coded the new control unit accordingly. The whole procedure didn't take very long, but my Benz felt like new afterwards. I would recommend that you take your vehicle to a good garage and have the control unit checked. You don't want to end up breaking down due to some kind of electrical fault or compromising road safety. Hope this helps you!

Hi, thanks for the tip! Didn't really think it could be the control unit. Thinking about the symptoms you described, it does seem very similar to my problem. Well, I'll definitely go to a good garage and get it checked out, don't want to get stranded halfway through. Can you remember how much it cost you to replace and re-code the ECU? And have you had any other problems with your Benz since then? Thanks again!

Hello, sure, no problem! The repair of the control unit cost me €600. Not exactly a bargain, but it was worth it as the car ran smoothly again afterwards. And the problem with my vehicle battery, which was severely discharged due to self-discharge, was also fixed at the same time. Since then, I have had no further problems with my Benz - everything is running smoothly again. But if you have any further questions or need help, let me know! All the best and hopefully you'll get your car running again quickly!

Hello, thank you again for the valuable information! Your information was really very helpful! 600 is, as you say, not a small amount. But considering it will solve the problem, I think it's worth it. It's also great to hear that you haven't had any further problems with your car since. I hope to be able to say the same after I get my car fixed. Will share my experience here as soon as I pick up my car from the shop. Until then, take care and thanks again! Hope all goes well for me.
