Audi SQ8 Brake Pedal Vibration and Spongy Feel Alert

My SQ8 brake pedal feels strange lately, it has some unusual vibration and feels spongy when pressing down. The car only has 10275 KM on it, and its been properly maintained. Im a bit concerned about the brake system since my last mechanic visit wasnt great. The hydraulic brakes worked fine before, but now Im wondering if the brake pads or brake calipers need attention. Has anyone experienced similar symptoms with their car? Looking for advice before taking it back to a shop.

Had the same issue on my S7 last month. The spongy brake pedal combined with vibrations typically indicates air in the hydraulic brake system or worn brake components. The symptoms started similarly, squeaky brakes followed by a soft pedal feel. After inspection, the tech found air bubbles in the brake lines requiring a complete system flush and bleed. The brake pads were also showing uneven wear patterns, suggesting the calipers weren't applying pressure uniformly. This is a serious safety concern that needs immediate attention. In my case, the brake system required: Full brake fluid flush, Brake line inspection, Caliper cleaning and lubrication, Brake pad replacement, System bleeding to remove air The metal brakes on these vehicles are sophisticated and require proper maintenance. Spongy pedal feel often indicates trapped air or fluid issues in the hydraulic brake system. Would strongly advise having it checked by a certified shop, as brake system problems can escalate quickly if left unaddressed. The repair fully resolved the vibration and restored proper pedal firmness. These symptoms shouldnt appear on such a low-mileage vehicle, suggesting possible installation or maintenance issues from previous service.

Thanks for sharing your experience. This sounds exactly like what I experienced with my SQ8 brake system last year. The brake rotors were fine but the calipers needed attention, plus there was air in the lines causing that spongy feeling. Would you mind sharing roughly how much the full repair cost you? Just wondering if prices have changed since my fix. Also curious if youve had any other brake-related issues pop up since the repair was done? Sometimes these problems can be early warning signs of other wear.

Those concerns were definitely resolved after visiting the certified shop. The brake calipers were serviced, air was removed from the hydraulic brake system, and everything has been working perfectly since then. Total cost came to 240 Euro specifically for addressing the undervoltage issue that was affecting the brake system performance. In the six months since the repair, no squeaky brakes or other brake-related problems have emerged. The brake pedal maintains firm pressure and the brake fluid levels have stayed consistent. Regular maintenance checks show the brake pads are wearing normally now. The key was catching these symptoms early before they could cause more extensive damage to the hydraulic brake components. When brake issues appear on low-mileage vehicles, its often due to system pressure problems rather than wear and tear, which was exactly the case here. The repair costs were reasonable considering the complexity of these brake systems. Its a worthwhile investment for maintaining proper brake performance and safety.

Finally got the brake system fixed and wanted to close out this thread with my experience. Took it to a different certified shop this time. The mechanic found air bubbles in the brake lines just like you mentioned, plus some debris affecting the brake calipers. The full repair ended up costing 290 Euro, covering a complete brake fluid flush, caliper service, and system bleeding. They also inspected the brake shoes and pads while they had it apart, everything else checked out fine. The brake pedal feels solid now, no more spongy sensation or vibration. Actually drove about 1000 KM since the repair with zero issues. Really glad I caught this early before it turned into a bigger problem with the hydraulic brake system. For anyone else experiencing similar symptoms, definitely get it checked right away. The peace of mind is worth the cost, especially with these high-performance brake systems. Thanks again for the helpful advice that pointed me in the right direction.
