Audi SQ5 Central Locking System Complete Failure Fix

Having trouble with my 2018 Audi SQ5 (Diesel, 74513km), the car locks and keyless entry system stopped working completely. The doors wont respond to the key fob or manual locking. Already checked the error memory which shows a fault. Had some questionable experiences with mechanics lately, so looking for advice on what this could be and rough repair costs before taking it to a shop. Has anyone dealt with similar central locking system failures in newer Audis? Want to avoid getting overcharged for a simple fix.

Experienced similar issues with my 2015 Audi Q7 TDI. The security system and keyless entry failed completely, showing identical symptoms. The locking mechanism became unresponsive both to the key fob and manual controls. Root cause was traced to damaged wiring harness connecting the central locking control module. The connection between the fuse box and door controls had deteriorated over time. These cables run through high-stress areas near the door hinges, making them prone to wear. The repair involved: Complete diagnostic scan, Removing door panels, Replacing the main wiring harness, Reprogramming the security system, Testing all locking functions This was classified as a serious electrical issue requiring specialized diagnostic equipment. The repair took about 6 hours at an authorized service center. While not a common failure point, when it occurs it affects the entire central locking system. Recommend having a certified technician diagnose it, as DIY attempts could further damage the electrical components. The key fob itself is likely not the problem, based on the symptoms described.

Thanks for sharing your Q7 experience with the central locking system failure. The wiring harness issue sounds exactly like what I am dealing with on my SQ5. Can you remember roughly how much you paid for the complete repair? Also curious if you have had any similar door locks or keyless entry problems since getting it fixed?

The central locking repair on my Q7 was fully resolved after visiting the mechanic. The faulty cable connection near the control module was identified and fixed, costing 95 Euro for parts and labor. The remote locking system has worked flawlessly since the repair, with no recurring issues affecting the door locks or keyless entry functions. The quick diagnosis and relatively low cost was a relief, as I had initially worried about needing extensive electrical work. The locking mechanism now responds perfectly to both the key fob and manual controls. If your SQ5 is showing similar symptoms, there is a good chance it is also just a connection issue rather than a major component failure.

After getting your feedback, I decided to take my SQ5 to a certified Audi technician. The diagnostic confirmed a damaged wiring harness was causing the security system malfunction. The repair took about 4 hours and cost 780 Euro, including parts and labor. They had to remove the door panels to access and replace the faulty wiring connecting the fuse box to the central locking controls. The keyless entry and all door locks are now working perfectly. The remote locking responds immediately, and the repair cost was actually reasonable considering the technical nature of the work. Definitely worth getting it properly diagnosed and fixed rather than attempting any DIY solutions that could have made things worse.
