Audi S8 Turn Signal Malfunction With Error Code Fix

Error message in the speedometer

Error in the lighting

Fault stored

Looking for advice on my 2016 Audi S8 (gas, 194881 km). Getting an error message in the speedometer and a stored fault code related to lighting. The indicator light on the driver side seems faulty, sometimes works, sometimes not. Had a mechanic look at it but wasnt satisfied with the service. Has anyone dealt with similar turn signal issues? Already checked the bulb replacement but that wasnt the fix. Could it be the flasher relay? Want to make sure I get it properly diagnosed this time.

Having experienced a similar electrical fault on a 2019 Audi S6, the intermittent turn indicator behavior often points to a more complex issue than just bulb failure. The flasher relay typically causes both indicators to malfunction simultaneously, so when only one side is affected, the problem usually lies in the wiring harness or connector. At the repair shop, the diagnostic revealed corroded pins in the connector block behind the headlight assembly. The turn indicator started working reliably after cleaning and reseating these connections. This type of electrical fault requires proper diagnostic equipment to trace the signal path. The stored fault codes need professional interpretation, as they can indicate multiple potential failure points in the lighting circuit. While not a severe mechanical issue, neglecting intermittent indicator problems can lead to complete failure of the lighting system. Recommend having a certified technician perform a complete circuit test on the indicator system, focusing on: Connection points in the headlight assembly, Wire continuity in the front harness, Control module connections, Ground point integrity This isnt a quick visual inspection job, proper diagnosis requires systematic testing of the entire circuit.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the S6 indicator issue. Your diagnosis about checking the connector block makes sense. I had a very similar problem with my S8 last winter. The cleaning and reseating of connections fixed the signal lamp issue completely. Did you remember roughly how much the repair ended up costing? Also, has the turn indicator stayed reliable since the fix? Just wondering if any other electrical gremlins popped up afterward.

The repair bill came to 95 Euro for fixing the faulty cable connection, which was causing the defective turn signal lamp to act up. I had a certified technician handle the automotive lighting system diagnosis and repair last month. The indicator light has worked flawlessly since then, no more intermittent failures or electrical issues. The lamp replacement wasnt needed after all, as the broken lens and wiring symptoms were traced to a degraded plug connection. The technician found this using proper diagnostic equipment, confirming what we suspected about the connector being the root cause rather than the flasher relay. The fix has proven reliable with no new electrical problems appearing. Getting it properly diagnosed and repaired by a specialist was definitely worth it for restoring proper turn signal function.

After getting different opinions, I took my S8 to a certified shop last week. The mechanic found corroded connectors causing the turn indicator malfunction, just like others mentioned. Total repair cost was 120 Euro including diagnostics. They cleaned all connections and checked the entire front lighting system. Much better experience than my first repair attempt. The indicator light works perfectly now, no more unusual failures or error messages. Really glad I didnt waste money replacing parts unnecessarily. Sometimes the simplest fix is the right one. The original error code is gone and all warning lights are off. Good to have proper turn signals working again for safe driving. Should have gone to a qualified shop from the start instead of trying the quick bulb replacement fix.
