Audi S6 Alarm System Failure After Service Visit

Alarm system malfunctions

|

Fault stored

Need advice on car alarm issues in 2012 Audi S6 (123151 km, gas engine). Recently had work done at a mechanic and now getting error codes with a non-functioning security alarm. Noticed the alarm system wont activate when locking the car, and the immobilizer seems to act up occasionally. Has anyone experienced similar issues after a mechanic visit? Looking for tips on potential causes and repair suggestions before taking it back.

Having dealt with a similar car alarm issue on my 2015 Audi S4, I can relate to this security system problem. After routine maintenance, the alarm control module started showing similar symptoms. The root cause was a disrupted connection between the central locking system and the alarm control unit. When technicians access certain components, they sometimes need to disconnect the battery, which can trigger a reset in the security system. This leads to false alarm readings and inconsistent immobilizer behavior. The fix required: Resetting the alarm control module, Recoding the central locking system, Checking all door sensors, Verifying battery voltage levels, Reprogramming the key fobs This was not a serious mechanical issue, but rather an electronic system recalibration problem. The security alarm needed proper recoding to sync with the vehicle's central locking system. These symptoms often appear when mechanics disconnect the battery without following proper power-down procedures. Would recommend having the dealer check the alarm control module specifically, as generic diagnostic tools might not access all security-related functions.

Thanks for sharing this experience. I had almost identical issues with my S6 last month. The immobilizer kept acting up out of nowhere and the security alarm stopped working after a routine oil change. The fix required a full system reset and recoding of the alarm sensors. My car needed new wiring for one faulty door sensor too. The anti-theft system works perfectly now. Did the battery issue and immobilizer problems completely resolve after your repair? Curious about the total repair cost too, as I might need additional work done soon.

Good news, after taking my S6 back to the mechanic, all security alarm issues were completely resolved. The immobilizer now functions reliably and the car alarm activates properly with the optical locking signals working every time. The repair cost was reasonable at 45 Euro to recode the anti-theft system and sync it with the optical locking indicators. The battery-related problems that were causing the immobilizer glitches cleared up once the alarm sensor system was properly recalibrated. The key was having the security alarm professionally recoded rather than just resetting it. Since the fix, there have been zero issues with any part of the anti-theft features. The car now responds correctly to locking and unlocking, with all alarm sensors working as intended. Based on my experience, the proper coding of the alarm control unit is crucial for preventing these issues from recurring. The entire security system has been stable since the repair, with no more unusual immobilizer activations or alarm malfunctions.

Thanks for the helpful advice. Wanted to share how my situation got resolved. Took the car back to the mechanic last week after the power failure symptoms got worse. Turns out the anti-theft system needed a complete recalibration after they disconnected the main battery during the oil change. The alarm sensor in the driver door was also damaged when they were working on something else. Total bill came to 230 Euro, pretty steep but at least everything works properly now. The alarm control module needed professional recoding and they replaced the faulty door sensor. The immobilizer and alarm system are both functioning normally again. Best part is the security alarm activates properly every time I lock the car now. No more unusual power issues or system errors. Definitely learned to specifically ask mechanics about proper battery disconnect procedures for next time.
