Thanks for sharing your experience. Same thing happened on my S5 last winter. The transport mode got stuck after a routine service and caused all sorts of electrical chaos. My immobilizer went crazy too. The repair sorted everything out, but I cant remember the exact cost. Did your fix end up being expensive? Just wondering since these electronic issues can really add up. Has everything stayed working properly since the repair or did you notice any other quirks? Would help to know for future reference since these car electronics seem to get more complex every year.

Since having the transport mode issue fixed on my S4, everything has worked flawlessly with no recurring problems. The car configuration was fully restored after the dealer performed the necessary software update and system resets. The good news is that because this was clearly a service-related problem where the car electronics were left in transport mode, the dealer covered the repair under warranty. Total cost was 0 Euro since the vehicle was still under its factory coverage. The vehicle settings and all electrical systems have remained stable since the fix, no quirks or issues with the navigation, immobilizer, or any other components. This seems to be a one-time problem that occurs when the transport mode isnt properly deactivated, rather than an ongoing electronic issue. Just make sure to keep documentation of any similar issues, especially while under warranty. These sophisticated car electronics need proper diagnostic tools to reset, but once fixed correctly, they tend to stay fixed.

Thanks everyone for the helpful responses. I finally got the issue resolved at my local shop this week. The whole transport mode problem was fixed with a complete system reset and software update. Total repair cost came to 280 Euro for diagnostic work and reprogramming. The key fob needed recoding too since the immobilizer was affected. Pretty reasonable considering all the electrical gremlins it was causing. Much better experience than my last repair. The mechanic clearly knew what he was doing with automotive electronics and explained everything. All systems are working perfectly now, navigation, climate control, everything. No more unusual electrical failures. Good to know others have dealt with this. Will definitely keep better track of the vehicle settings after service appointments to make sure transport mode gets properly deactivated. These modern car electronics are amazing when working right but can be tricky when things go wrong.

Had similar symptoms with my 2016 Audi S4. The transport mode activation typically occurs when the vehicle needs a proper diagnostic check to reset its systems. When this happened, the car electronics were acting erratically, navigation dead, unusual electrical failures, and systems not responding correctly. The root cause was the transport mode remaining active after a service, which is meant for shipping vehicles and limits various functions. The fix required a professional diagnostic tool to deactivate transport mode and reset the vehicle settings. Simple software updates or basic resets did not resolve it. This was a serious issue requiring dealership intervention since it affects multiple vehicle systems and safety features. The technician had to perform: 1. Full system diagnostic check 2. Deactivation of transport mode 3. Reset of central electronic modules 4. Complete software update across affected systems After the repair, all electrical systems returned to normal operation and engine start functions worked properly. This is not something that can typically be fixed at home due to the need for specialized diagnostic equipment. Recommend getting it checked soon, as driving with limited electrical functionality could affect various safety systems.
