Audi S5 Infotainment System Pairing Problems Fixed

Having connectivity issues with my 2023 Audi S5. The infotainment system wont pair with any smartphones and the system keeps showing an error message. Checked the basic settings and everything seems normal. Already tried resetting both phone and car system but no luck. The error gets stored in the memory and keeps coming back. Has anyone dealt with similar connectivity problems on their S5? Would like to know what your workshop did to resolve it and what the root cause was. Really need some advice before booking a service appointment.

Had a similar electrical fault in my 2021 Audi S4 last winter. With some experience working on Audi systems, I recognized this as a common issue with their infotainment setup. After trying the usual troubleshooting steps like you did, I took it to a workshop. The problem turned out to be a corrupted Bluetooth module that needed a complete software reset and reconfiguration. The technician had to use their diagnostic tool to clear all stored connection data and reinstall the latest firmware. Total cost was 45 Euro for the diagnostic and reprogramming work. Been working flawlessly since then, no more pairing issues or error messages. Before suggesting more specific solutions, could you share: Which smartphone model you are trying to pair, The exact error message displayed, Whether this started suddenly or gradually, If any recent phone or car updates were done This information would help determine if your issue matches what I experienced or if it might be something different in the ignition system affecting the electronics.

Thanks for the input. My mileage is at 109205 KM and last service was just completed 2 weeks ago. For additional context: Using latest iPhone model, error message shows Connection Failed Code 2B-31, started right after the service actually. No updates done recently on either device. The electrical faults seem similar to what you experienced, but my issue started specifically post-service which makes me wonder if something got disconnected during maintenance. Already went through all basic steps like clearing cache and resetting connection profiles. A full system diagnostic might indeed be needed. Would help to know if other 2023 S5 owners experienced connectivity problems after routine maintenance. The engine light is working fine and all other electrical systems appear normal, its isolated to the infotainment module.

Thanks for providing those details. After my own experience with post-service connectivity issues on my S4, this sounds very familiar. The error code 2B-31 typically indicates a function restriction in the interface module, often triggered when maintenance work affects certain electrical connections. In my case, it also emerged after routine service when a technician had to disconnect the battery to perform other work. Since your issue started right after service, there are two likely scenarios based on what happened with my vehicle: 1. A loose connection in the infotainment wiring harness 2. An incomplete system reboot after battery disconnect Before spending on diagnostics, try this sequence that resolved my situation: 1. Power down the car completely 2. Wait 15 minutes with all doors closed 3. Disconnect the negative battery terminal for 30 minutes 4. Reconnect and let the ignition system complete a full startup cycle If this doesnt clear the error, the transmission of data between the infotainment and main control modules might need recalibration at the workshop. The 45 Euro diagnostic fee I mentioned earlier would be worth it at this point. Keep me posted if you try the reset procedure, curious if your 2023 model responds the same way mine did.

Thanks for sharing such detailed steps. Just tried the full power cycle procedure exactly as suggested, including the 30-minute battery disconnect, but unfortunately still getting the same error code. The electrical fault persists even after multiple startup cycles. Going to schedule that diagnostic appointment since it seems my 2023 S5 needs proper recalibration. Will definitely request them to check any loose connections from the recent service work, especially around the infotainment wiring harness. The 45 Euro diagnostic fee sounds reasonable compared to continuing with a malfunctioning system. Since this started immediately after routine maintenance, will also ask them to verify if any transmission of data between modules was interrupted during the service. Better to have them do a thorough check while they have the diagnostic tools connected. Will update once I get the root cause identified. Need the connectivity working properly for both daily use and upcoming car meets.
