Thanks for sharing your experience with the S3. I had nearly identical issues with my control panel last winter. Since you got it fixed, could you share what the total repair cost was? Also curious if youve had any recurring problems with the air conditioning or power supply to the HVAC system since the repair?

Happy to report the fix was much simpler and cheaper than expected. The mechanic found the issue was a loose electrical connector behind the control panel causing the electronic faults. Total cost was just 95 Euro for fixing the faulty connection and testing the HVAC system. The air conditioning and control panel have worked flawlessly since the repair, no recurring issues with the power supply or climate controls. The mechanic mentioned checking all electrical connectors during regular maintenance can prevent similar problems. Much better outcome than your S3 repair that needed the full control module replacement. Sometimes these HVAC system problems turn out to be basic connection issues rather than major component failures. The key was finding a technician who properly diagnosed the root cause instead of just replacing parts. Proper electrical testing saved a lot of money in unnecessary repairs.

After reading about similar HVAC problems, I finally took my S1 to a new mechanic last week. Really glad I asked here first because it helped me understand what to expect. Turned out my issue was a combination of a failed temperature sensor and a damaged wiring harness. The blower motor was fine, but the system wasnt getting proper readings. Total repair came to 320 Euro, including parts and labor. The climate control now works perfectly, both heating and AC. Error code is gone and the control panel responds normally. The mechanic also showed me the old parts and explained how the wiring got damaged over time. While not as cheap as just having loose connections fixed, it was still better than needing a full control module replacement. Having a mechanic who took time to properly diagnose the problem made a huge difference compared to my previous repair experiences.

Had similar electronic faults on my 2011 Audi S3. The climate control system showed identical symptoms, unresponsive panel and heating issues. The problem turned out to be more complex than just a faulty control panel. The repair required checking multiple components: 1. Main blower motor functionality 2. Electrical connectors at the control module 3. Temperature sensor readings 4. Wiring harness condition The root cause was corroded electrical connectors between the control module and the HVAC unit. Moisture had damaged several connection points over time. This is a known issue that can affect various Audi models from that generation. The fix involved: Cleaning all electrical connectors, Replacing the main control module, Testing the temperature sensor calibration, Updating the system software This was a significant repair requiring specialized diagnostic equipment. The job took about 6 hours to complete. While serious, addressing it promptly prevented damage to other HVAC components. Recommend having a certified technician perform a full diagnostic scan. The error code will help pinpoint whether its a sensor, module, or wiring issue.
