Latest service was at 121000 KM, around 2 months ago. Thanks for sharing your experience with the wiring harness issue. The symptoms started appearing gradually over the past few weeks. I have not made any modifications to the suspension system. The ride comfort has definitely deteriorated, small bumps that used to be barely noticeable now cause significant vibration through the cabin. When going over speed bumps, there is a subtle knocking sound from the front right suspension. The car handling feels less precise than before, especially during cornering. The service center did not report any suspension-related problems during the last inspection. Based on your experience, I will have them check the wiring connections first before replacing more expensive components. The gradual onset makes me think it could indeed be a wiring issue affecting the electronic damping control.

Thanks for the additional details. After reading your description, this sounds different from my wiring harness issue since mine had no knocking sounds. In my S3, any mechanical noise like knocking usually indicated worn suspension components. Given the mileage and gradually worsening car handling, I suspect the front shock absorber itself might be failing. The knocking sound from the front right matches what I experienced when I later had to replace both front dampers at around 130000 KM. The electronic damping error could be triggering because the shock absorber is not responding correctly to adjustment signals. When mine eventually failed, it caused similar symptoms: Deteriorating ride comfort, Knocking sounds over bumps, Warning lights, Poor cornering response While checking the wiring is a good first step, I recommend having the workshop inspect the front shock absorbers. When I replaced mine, the total repair cost was around 850 Euro including parts and labor. The vehicle suspension returned to factory spec performance after the repair. What made the biggest difference in my case was replacing both front dampers at the same time to maintain balanced handling characteristics. The warning lights disappeared and the electronic damping control started working properly again.

Thanks for the detailed suspension failure analysis. After hearing about your experience with worn dampers, I think you are right that my issue could be more mechanical than electrical. The knocking sound and gradual performance decline does match the symptoms you described. The suspension tuning feels particularly off when cornering now, which lines up with your observation about failing shock absorbers. I will have the workshop do a thorough inspection of both front dampers rather than just focusing on the wiring. My car is approaching the mileage where you needed damper replacement, so this makes sense as the likely cause. The repair cost you mentioned helps set realistic expectations, I will budget around 850 Euro for the job assuming both front shock absorbers need replacement. I appreciate the tip about replacing both sides together for proper car damping balance. Will schedule an appointment to have this checked next week. Did you notice any other warning signs I should watch for in the meantime while driving with potentially failing dampers?

I had a similar suspension issue with my 2016 Audi S3. With some experience working on cars, I can share what happened in my case. The symptoms matched yours exactly, harsh ride quality and a damping control error. After taking it to my regular workshop, they diagnosed a faulty wiring connection to the shock absorber system. The cable had worn through due to normal movement, creating an intermittent connection that triggered the warning light. The fix was straightforward, they replaced the damaged wiring harness and properly secured it to prevent future wear. Total cost was 95 Euro for parts and labor. The suspension tuning returned to normal immediately after the repair, and the warning light hasn't returned. Before suggesting specific fixes for your case, it would help to know: Current mileage on your S1, When you first noticed the suspension failure symptoms, Whether the issue developed gradually or suddenly, If you hear any unusual noises when going over bumps, Any recent suspension work or modifications These details would help determine if your issue is similar to what I experienced or if it might be something else in the damping control system.
