Audi Q5 Blower Motor & Air Sensor Malfunction Fix Guide

Blower does not work properly

My Audi Q5 2021 diesel (15343KM) has a non-working blower motor issue. The air conditioning sensor system seems faulty, as the cabin air sensor appears unresponsive. The air quality sensor was checked at my last workshop visit but they couldnt fix it. Has anyone experienced similar problems with their blower motor and AUC sensor setup? Looking for tips on what to check before going to another mechanic.

Had a similar issue with my Audi Q7 2018 diesel. The climate control system showed the same symptoms, blower motor not responding and auto recirculation not working properly. The root cause turned out to be a corroded wiring harness connector near the cabin air sensor. Over time, moisture had damaged the connection points, causing intermittent failures in the blower motor circuit. The air quality sensor was also affected since it shares the same wiring loom. The repair required removing several trim pieces to access the main connector block. The technician had to replace the entire wiring harness section and recalibrate the air conditioning sensor system. This was not a quick fix, the whole process involved specialized diagnostic equipment to reset the climate control module. This is typically a serious issue that requires professional attention, as improper repair can damage other connected systems. Would recommend having a certified shop check the wiring connections first before replacing any sensors or the blower motor itself. Based on your mileage, this seems premature for this type of failure. Worth checking if this would be covered under warranty since its a known weak point in some models.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the climate control and air quality sensor issues. The wiring harness problem you described matches my symptoms perfectly. The odor sensor and auto recirculation stopped working right before the blower motor failed completely. Do you remember roughly how much you paid for the repair? Also curious if youve had any sensor fault codes or other issues pop up since getting it fixed? My car is still under warranty but the dealer keeps saying they cant replicate the problem. Might try showing them your case as reference.

Since having the repair done on my Audi, everything has worked flawlessly. The sensor fault codes completely disappeared after they fixed the faulty cable connection. The total repair cost was 95 Euro, which was quite reasonable considering the complexity of accessing the components. The auto recirculation and odor sensor functions are now responding perfectly, and the air conditioning sensor system is working as intended. No warning lights or climate control issues have occurred in the months since the repair. If your dealer claims they cannot replicate the problem, ask them specifically to check the wiring connections near the cabin air quality sensor. The symptoms match exactly what I experienced, and its a documented issue. Having it properly diagnosed with the right equipment is crucial for fixing it the first time. The fault can be intermittent which makes diagnosis tricky, but a thorough check of the wiring harness should reveal the root cause. Since your vehicle is under warranty, they should absolutely investigate this known failure point.

After getting multiple opinions online, I finally took my Q5 to a different authorized dealer. Showed them the information about similar cases and insisted they check the wiring harness specifically. The technician found corrosion in the connector block near the AUC sensor, exactly where others described. They replaced the damaged wiring section and recalibrated the air conditioning sensor system under warranty. The auto recirculation and blower motor now work perfectly. Total repair time was about 4 hours. Really glad I pushed for a proper diagnosis instead of accepting the first workshop's response about not being able to replicate the issue. The BMW AUC sensor setup is working great now with no fault codes. Definitely worth getting a second opinion when you know something isnt right. Would strongly recommend others with similar symptoms check their wiring connections first before replacing expensive components. Sometimes the simplest solution is the right one.
