Audi Q5 2018: difficulties with central locking and key radio signal

Locking/Unlocking issue

Key fob issues

Hello everyone, my Audi Q5 from 2018 (petrol engine, 65132km run) has been acting up recently. The central locking system is acting up and the key radio signal isn't quite right either. Does anyone know this? Has anyone had anything like this and can tell me what could be wrong? Unfortunately, I had a bad experience the last time I went to a mechanic, so I'd like to find out more here before I go to a garage. I would really appreciate your experience and tips. Thanks in advance! Regards

Hello, I drive a 2015 Audi A6 and had a similar problem to yours. During my last visit to the garage, it was discovered that there was a fault with the lock mechanism. The radio signal from my key was also spinning. My mechanic said that it was due to the electronics in the key and I had to replace it. He couldn't say anything specific about the central locking system at the time, but after replacing the key, everything worked perfectly again. I would recommend that you first take a look at your car key. Although your problem could be something else, that was the sticking point for me. It was a serious problem, but it fit the overall picture. Hope this helps! Greetings

Hello, thank you very much for your answer! That sounds really funny, very interesting to know. So, did you just replace the car key and then everything was fine again? Do you remember what you paid for the replacement and whether any other problems have occurred since then? Bye!

Hello, exactly, after replacing the key everything ran like clockwork. Unfortunately, I can't tell you how much it cost, it's been a while. But since my visit to the mechanic last week, my central locking system has been running without any functional restrictions, which I think is really great! The faulty fuse was repaired at a cost of €58. Since then, everything has been fine. Hope that helps you! Greetings

Hello, thanks for the quick response! Sure, it's been a while, you can't remember everything. But it's good to know that the repair has helped you and that no further problems have arisen. I'll check my key now and then probably visit the mechanic after all. Thank you very much for your help, I feel much better prepared! See you then!

The first thing I would do is check the key battery, fuses, and reprogram the key. It is important to also ensure there's no electronic interference. If unresolved, it could be a central locking module issue that would need professional diagnostics. I would definitely visit a specialist.

Hey, I would also recommend replacing the battery in the key first if this is possible. If the vehicle has "keyless access", there may also be a battery in the key that cannot be replaced. In this case, you will have to get a new key.
