Audi Q4 Airbag Warning After Service Visit Raises Alarm

After my mechanic visit, my Audi Q4 e tron (2022) displays a constant airbag warning light on the dashboard. The car has 23454 KM on the clock and runs perfectly otherwise. Has anyone experienced similar issues with the airbag sensor or restraint system in their Q4? Looking to understand if this requires immediate attention and what repairs typically cost for this car safety issue. Would appreciate hearing your experiences before visiting another workshop.

Had a similar vehicle safety alert on my Audi Q8 e-tron (2019). The airbag warning light turned out to be a faulty crash sensor connection under the front passenger seat. The restraint system showed the error due to a loose wiring harness that connects to the airbag control module. This requires immediate attention as it affects the entire airbag deployment system. Any malfunction in the safety restraint system means airbags might not deploy correctly during an accident. My repair involved: Full diagnostic scan of the airbag system, Removal of seat to access wiring, Replacement of corroded connector pins, Reset of the airbag control module The fix was straightforward but critical for vehicle safety. The loose connection was causing intermittent signals to the control unit. These issues are common in electric vehicles due to the complexity of their sensor networks. Would strongly recommend getting this checked by an authorized dealer since airbag recall and safety system repairs require specific diagnostic tools and expertise.

Thanks for sharing that experience. I also had the airbag warning light come on in my Q4 e tron last year. The crash sensor needed replacing along with some wiring repairs to restore proper function to the restraint system. Sounds like a very similar issue to yours. Did you remember what the total repair cost was? Also curious if youve had any automotive safety alerts since the fix? My warning light hasnt returned, but its good to know these issues seem relatively common in newer electric models.

Good news, after getting the airbag warning light issue fixed on my Q4, the SRS light has never come back on. The repair was actually quite straightforward and cost 95 Euro to fix a faulty cable connection in the airbag sensor system. The mechanic found the problem was just a loose plug connection at the crash sensor, which is a fairly common issue in these models. The airbag repair was definitely worth getting done promptly, it ensures the whole restraint system works correctly in case of an accident. Since having the work completed, the car safety systems have been working perfectly with no further warning lights or issues. Its reassuring to know that sometimes these airbag sensor alerts can be resolved with a simple wiring fix rather than needing major component replacement. Glad to hear your warning light hasnt returned either. Regular checks of the SRS system during maintenance help catch these kinds of connection problems early before they become more serious issues.

Thanks for the input. I took my Q4 to the dealership yesterday for the airbag warning light. Similar to what others mentioned, the crash sensor wiring needed attention. The diagnostic scan revealed a loose connection in the restraint system wiring harness near the passenger seat. Total repair came to 180 Euro including: System diagnostic, Wiring harness repair, New crash sensor, Airbag module reset The automotive safety check confirmed all systems are now working properly. The mechanic mentioned these connection issues are fairly common in newer electric vehicles due to their complex sensor networks. They recommended checking the airbag system during regular maintenance to prevent future problems. For anyone else seeing this warning light, definitely get it checked promptly. The repair was much simpler than I expected, and its critical for proper airbag deployment in case of an accident.
