Thanks for sharing those details about the repair process. It matches what I experienced with my Q3s vehicle security system last summer. The technician also found water damage affecting the wiring connections and alarm controller functionality. Did your total repair cost come close to 600 Euro? Just curious since I want to compare if prices are similar. Also wondering if youve had any signal problems or other alarm-related issues pop up since the fix?

The total came to just 95 Euro at my repair shop, which was significantly less than expected. The fix was straightforward, just a faulty cable connection to the alarm controller that needed replacing. Much simpler than my previous concerns about extensive water damage. Since the repair, the automotive alarm system has worked flawlessly. The siren communication fault was completely resolved, and the signal problems havent returned. The alarm controller responds perfectly now, and the system arms and disarms without any issues. Your 600 Euro repair sounds like it might have involved more extensive work. My fault detection showed it was isolated to just the one connection point, which likely explains the cost difference. Its worth noting that these alarm system issues can vary greatly in complexity and repair costs depending on the exact fault location.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. After dealing with my stubborn alarm system, I finally got it sorted out last week. Took it to a specialized shop after reading about similar experiences here. The mechanic found several corroded wiring connections that were causing the signal problems. The repair process was quicker than expected, about 2 hours total. They had to replace some damaged wiring and reset the entire alarm system. Total cost came to 320 Euro, which included the fault detection work and new parts. Happy to report the alarm controller is now responding perfectly and no more error codes showing up. Definitely worth getting it checked by someone who knows these systems well. Much better experience than my previous repair attempts. The learning here is not to wait too long when the alarm starts acting up. Water damage only gets worse and can spread to other components. At least the wiring issue was caught before it caused more extensive damage.

I had a similar situation with my 2018 Audi Q5 last month. The automotive alarm system showed comparable symptoms with complete failure and fault codes. After thorough diagnostics, the issue was traced to corroded wiring connections between the alarm controller and siren module. The fault detection process revealed multiple points of concern: Complete communication loss between alarm components, Non-responsive alarm controller unit, System would not arm or respond to key fob signals The repair required accessing the wiring harness near the driver side fender well. The main wiring issue stemmed from water intrusion that damaged several connection points. The repair involved: Replacing damaged wiring sections, Installing new waterproof connectors, Recoding the alarm controller module This was a serious repair requiring specialized diagnostic equipment and expertise with Audi security systems. It took about 4 hours to complete at the shop. While labor-intensive, addressing this early prevented more extensive damage to the entire alarm system. Consider having a certified technician perform a full system diagnostic, as these wiring issues often cascade into bigger problems if left unaddressed.
