Hello everyone, I have a problem with my Audi Q2 Diesel, year of manufacture 2019. The following symptoms occur: long cold start, sometimes does not start at all, strange engine noises, weak battery when starting, weak or flickering light and a warning light in the speedometer. Do you have any ideas as to what exactly the problem could be and how it can be rectified in the workshop? What experiences have you had? Thanks in advance!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2017 Audi Q3. I have some experience with cars and at the time it was very frustrating. It was the same for me: long cold start, strange noises, weak battery when starting and flickering lights. The garage said that the fault was the result of a fault in the vehicle's electrical system, so it was repaired under warranty and I didn't have to pay anything. Maybe it's similar for you. Can you give me a few more details about your vehicle, e.g. how many kilometers the car has covered or whether there have been any other recent repairs? Then I might be able to help you better. LG

Hey, thanks for your answer! My Audi Q2 currently has 176543 km on the clock. The last inspection was about 5000 km ago, when the oil was also changed. There have been no major repairs since then. Hope that helps. LG

Hey, okay, 176543 km is quite a lot. In my Audi Q3, the problem occurred at around 80,000 km, so quite early compared to yours. The fact that your last inspection was only 5000 km ago and no major defect was found suggests that it could be an electrical problem, similar to mine. A common culprit for these symptoms could be the alternator, especially if the battery is often low and the lights flicker. In my case, it was a combination of a weak battery and a faulty alternator, which then affected the electronics. This would also explain the warning light in the speedometer. I would recommend having the battery and alternator checked at a workshop. Sometimes a cable break or a defective control unit can also be the reason, especially if the mileage is high. A tip: If you have the opportunity, have a system scan carried out with a diagnostic device. This could tell you quite quickly whether and which error messages are present. LG

Hi, thank you for your detailed reply. That sounds plausible with the alternator and battery. I will definitely follow your tip and have a system scan carried out. Let's see if the garage finds anything. These electronic problems are really annoying, but I guess you have to get through them. Thanks again for the help! LG
