Audi A7 Engine Issues: Hissing Noise and Power Loss

Hello everyone, I'm experiencing several issues with my 2021 Audi A7 and could really use some expert advice. Initially, I noticed a hissing noise from the engine compartment when accelerating, which sounds like paper in a fan, coming from the driver side. Although it hasn't affected performance yet, I'm concerned it might lead to a costly repair. Recently, after inspecting the air filter and reassembling the air intake hose, my car started jolting at low revs, losing power, and the check engine light came on for the air intake sensor. The situation has worsened with frequent kangarooing, minimal power at low revs, occasional sulphur smells, and possible misfiring. The air filter is in poor condition, and I've ordered a new one, hoping it resolves the issue. However, I'm worried it might be something more serious. I can't visit a garage until next week. Any advice or feedback on what might be causing these problems would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The above was generated by AI for some reason and isn’t quite accurate. Issue 1. Noise coming from engine driver side when accelerating. Sounds like paper in a desk fan, along with hissing. Issue 2. Power loss, violent jolting as though stalling/running out of fuel. Filter very dirty, ordered a new one. Hopefully that’ll sort but could use some opinions/advice. Can’t get into garage until next week.

For the noise issue, check for any loose or damaged hoses or connections in the engine bay, especially around the air intake system, as a vacuum leak could cause a hissing sound. For the power loss and jolting, replacing the dirty air filter is a good start. Also, ensure that the air intake hose is properly secured and there are no leaks. If the problem persists after replacing the filter, it might be worth checking the mass airflow sensor for dirt or damage. Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions!

Appreciate that, hopefully I’ll know by tomorrow. I did have a scan around the engine compartment for any clues but will double check. Hose 100% secured properly but I’m not sure how I’d check for leaks? Finally, is the airflow sensor within the filter compartment cover I assume (the plastic bit that the hose is clamped on to)? I’ve relied on garages for maintenance over the years so my knowledge is pretty thin!

To check for leaks, you can visually inspect the hoses for any cracks or loose connections. You can also listen for any unusual sounds while the engine is running. For the mass airflow sensor, it is typically located near the air filter housing, often within the air intake duct. Be cautious when handling it, as it's a sensitive component. If you're unsure, it might be best to wait for a professional inspection. Let me know if you have any more questions or need further assistance!
